Role Description:

Arcadis is shaping the future of water infrastructure-and we're proactively connecting with experienced Structural Engineers who want their work to make a lasting impact. As climate change, urbanization, and aging systems place increasing demands on water infrastructure, our Resilience Water team is at the forefront of delivering sustainable solutions that protect communities, ecosystems, and critical resources for generations to come.

This prospecting opportunity reflects our commitment to building a strong talent pipeline in support of future growth within our Resilience Water team. Although a position in your area may not be immediately available, we are committed to investing in connecting with professionals who share our purpose and are excited by the challenges ahead.

Role Accountabilities:

As a Structural Engineer with our Resilience Water team, you will contribute to the planning, design, and delivery of structural solutions across a diverse portfolio of water infrastructure projects. These may include water and wastewater treatment facilities, stormwater and flood resilience systems, shoreline and coastal stabilization, and resilient distribution and collection infrastructure. You will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative designs that balance technical excellence, sustainability, and constructability. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Develop and evaluate structural design concepts based on site conditions, project objectives, regulatory requirements, and constructability considerations.
  • Perform structural assessments and engineering analyses to support feasibility studies, planning efforts, and detailed design.
  • Prepare high-quality technical deliverables, including engineering calculations, design drawings, specifications, and contract documents.
  • Collaborate with civil, mechanical, electrical, and environmental engineers to deliver integrated, sustainable solutions that comply with applicable codes and standards.
  • Support project delivery by assisting with budget tracking, schedule adherence, and coordination of project milestones.
  • Participate in site visits, client meetings, and project-related travel as required.

Skills & Experience:

Successful candidates will bring hands-on experience in structural design for water/wastewater infrastructure projects, with proficiency in STAAD Pro and working knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit. A solid understanding of applicable codes and standards-such as the International Building Code (IBC) and American Concrete Institute (ACI) guidelines-is essential. You should be comfortable preparing and reviewing technical drawings, specifications, calculations, cost estimates, and schedules, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills. This role is well-suited for engineers who thrive in collaborative environments and are motivated by sustainability, resilience, and innovative problem-solving.

Qualifications & Experience:

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related field
  • 5 years of structural engineering design experience, preferably supporting water/wastewater infrastructure projects

Preferred Qualifications:
