Full Job Description
Job Description

The Enterprise Strategy Consultant owns a full engagement module - a coherent problem area within a GuideWell strategy engagement - and runs it autonomously from hypothesis to recommendation. The Associate shapes the module's hypotheses and analytical approach, picks the right methods unprompted, and synthesizes the work into a defensible recommendation that holds up to challenge. Associates also carry the day-to-day relationships with the business-unit stakeholders in their module, and are fluent in a domain - Medicare Advantage, commercial, pharmacy, or similar - to be credible with the subject-matter experts they work alongside. This is the level at which the toolkit becomes judgment: the priority is to be trusted with a whole problem area, and to prepare for Senior Associate, where scope widens to several modules and a small team.

Key Requirements

Own a Full Engagement Module
  • Own a full engagement module - a coherent problem area - autonomously, from framing through to recommendation.
  • Set and manage the module workplan, sequencing the analysis and making the trade-offs that keep it on time and on point.
  • Direct the Analysts and Senior Analysts contributing to the module, and own the quality of everything that comes out of it.
  • Escalate early and precisely when the answer is moving, the data will not support the question, or the scope needs to change.

Shape the Hypotheses and the Analytical Approach
  • Frame the hypotheses for the module and choose the right analytical methods unprompted.
  • Design analyses that answer the question rather than merely describe the data, and know when a rough cut is enough.
  • Challenge the module's own conclusions - look for the disconfirming evidence before someone else finds it.

Synthesize the Module into a Defensible Recommendation
  • Build a module-level narrative end to end, moving from findings to a clear, defensible recommendation.
  • Make the logic and the assumptions visible, so leaders can see what the recommendation rests on and where it is sensitive.
  • Present the module to project leadership and business-unit stakeholders, and hold up under challenge.

Guide Junior Colleagues and Codify How the Team Works
  • Guide the junior colleagues working in your module - set direction, review their work, and give direct, timely feedback.
  • Codify the methods that worked into reusable tools, templates, and intellectual property for the team.
  • Help onboard new hires and pass on the team's standards and working norms.

Own Day-to-Day Stakeholder Relationships and Build Domain Fluency
  • Manage the day-to-day relationships with the business-unit stakeholders inside your module, and keep them informed as the answer takes shape.
  • Build fluency in a domain - Medicare Advantage, commercial, pharmacy, or similar - deep enough to be credible with its subject-matter experts.
  • Partner with finance, data owners, and subject-matter experts to source what the module needs and validate what it concludes.

Qualifications
  • 0 - 2 yrs of experience.
  • 3+ years in management consulting, corporate strategy, corporate development, or a comparable problem-solving role.
  • Demonstrated experience owning a coherent problem area or workstream autonomously, from framing through to a recommendation.
  • Per the team's leveling map, a Senior Business Analyst from a top-tier firm typically enters here; industry and corporate-development backgrounds are leveled to demonstrated scope rather than title.

Required Education
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Quantitative, analytical, business, or health-related field preferred (e.g., economics, finance, statistics, data or analytics, engineering, or public health); other majors welcome where the analytical toolkit is demonstrated.

Preferred Education
  • Master's degree or MBA
  • MBA, or a master's degree in a quantitative, analytical, business, or health-related field.

Additional Qualifications
  • Demonstrated ability to own a full problem area end to end - framing the hypotheses, choosing the methods, and carrying the work through to a recommendation.
  • Strong structuring and quantitative skills, including the judgment to know when a directional answer is enough and when precision matters.
  • A track record of building a defensible narrative and presenting it to senior stakeholders under challenge.
  • The ability to direct and review the work of junior colleagues while remaining accountable for the output.
  • Enough domain depth to be credible with subject-matter experts - to ask the right questions and to push back on the answers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, and comfort in the room with business-unit leadership.
  • The ability to manage day-to-day stakeholder relationships, including where views compete.
  • Advanced Excel modeling and PowerPoint, and comfort working with imperfect or incomplete data.
  • Sound judgment about when to escalate - early and precisely, with a recommended course of action.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience at a top-tier strategy consultancy or in a corporate strategy group, including leading a workstream or module.
  • Health care or insurance experience - payer, provider, pharmacy, or government programs.
  • Depth in a specific domain such as Medicare Advantage, commercial, or pharmacy.
  • MBA or other relevant advanced degree.
  • Working knowledge of a data or analytics tool beyond Excel (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau, or Power BI).
  • Experience codifying methods into reusable tools, templates, or team intellectual property.
