Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is seeking a Staff Vehicle IPT (Integrated Product Team) Lead Engineer(Level 5) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.

As the Vehicle IPT Lead Engineer you will lead and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering teams in our Vehicle Organization. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership, drive supplier relationships, and ensure successful delivery of program milestones across design, development, and testing phases.

Key Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
  • Lead cross-functional Vehicle Engineering Teams (including Load & Dynamics, Stress, Electrical, Crew, ECS, Manufacturing & Production, Mechanical & Production, and Structures) in program proposals, detailed planning, and critical milestone execution.
  • Manage technical aircraft validation (AV) activities including creation of p-sheets, AV Basis of Estimates (BOEs), Range of Measures (ROMs), and review/revision of Statements of Work (SOW), proposed SOWs (PSOW), Test Readiness Briefs (TRB), Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRL), Requests for Engineering (RFE), and related documents.
  • Facilitate and participate in Systems Engineering Technical Reviews (SETR) such as SRR, SFR, PDR, CDR, TRR, and FRR by preparing and reviewing presentation materials, and presenting when needed.
  • Oversee supplier relationship management-briefing, coordinating, and following up to ensure alignment with program goals.
  • Support proposal development activities, including conceptual design, labor hour estimating, bidding coordination, risk assessment, and mitigation strategy development.
  • Mentor and guide the engineering team, fostering a collaborative environment and promoting technical excellence.
  • Utilize Microsoft Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software to generate technical documentation and presentations.


Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) discipline and 12 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Master's Degree in a STEM discipline and 10 years of related professional/military experience; OR a Ph.D. in a STEM discipline and 8 years of related professional/military experience.
  • Must have an active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation) and the ability to obtain and maintain US Government Top Secret clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
  • Experience with Supplier Management Team (SMT) processes, including one or more of the following: developing statements of work, creating technical specifications, or managing supplier relationships through briefing, coordination, or follow-up.
  • Proven experience in developing technical documents and working with proposal-related tasks.
  • Experience in proposal development, including conceptual design development, labor hour estimating, and/or proposal writing.
  • Experience coordinating bidding teams and assessing project risks with corresponding mitigation strategies.
  • Experience generating technical documents and working with various software/data processing tools such as MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, or other related tools.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active US Government Top Secret clearance or higher (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience writing/reviewing technical documents: SSOWs, SRDs, ICDs, SDRL reviews, etc.
  • Experience in leading, mentoring, and developing multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver complex technical solutions, within cost and schedule constraints, across the various phases of the engineering lifecycle.


Primary Level Salary Range: $152,900.00 - $229,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
