Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer specializing in Golang, you will play a pivotal role in designing, developing, and maintaining high-performance, scalable software solutions that underpin General Motors' enterprise data architecture. You will drive technical excellence, mentor junior engineers, and contribute significantly to our continuous improvement culture within an Agile environment.

Responsibilities:**
* Design, develop, and implement robust and scalable software applications primarily using Golang, adhering to best practices and coding standards.
* Lead the technical design and architecture of complex software systems, ensuring alignment with enterprise data architecture principles and strategic objectives.
* Collaborate effectively across multiple cross-functional teams (e.g., product, data science, operations) to understand requirements, define solutions, and deliver high-quality software.
* Mentor and guide junior and mid-level software engineers, fostering a culture of technical growth, continuous learning, and innovation.
* Drive group problem-solving initiatives, identifying root causes, and implementing effective and sustainable solutions.
* Contribute to the evolution and implementation of our Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices, ensuring efficient and predictable software delivery.
* Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and ensure the maintainability, reliability, and security of software products.
* Act as a technical subject matter expert, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies, and proposing their adoption where beneficial.
* Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support.
* Champion continuous integration, continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices, and automated testing to ensure high software quality and rapid iteration.

Qualifications:**
* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
* Extensive experience (typically 8+ years) in software development, with a significant focus on Golang.
* Proven expertise in designing and implementing scalable and high-performance distributed systems.
* Strong understanding of enterprise data architecture principles and patterns.
* Demonstrated ability to provide Cross-Functional Leadership, influencing technical decisions and driving consensus across diverse teams.
* Exceptional skills in Group Problem Solving, with a track record of tackling complex technical challenges effectively.
* Proficiency with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) methodologies or similar agile scaling frameworks.
* Expert-level Software Coding abilities in Golang, including concurrency, error handling, and performance optimization.
* Deep understanding of Software Development best practices, including version control (Git), testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.
* Proven Strategic Leadership capabilities, contributing to technical roadmaps and long-term architectural vision.
* Strong commitment to Continuous Learning and staying current with evolving technologies and industry trends.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
