Full Job Description
The Challenge

We're looking for a Staff Software Engineer with a passion for solving problems to join our agile AI Governance team at OneTrust. Staff Software Engineers are responsible for developing, contributing to decisions related to design and architecture of new frontend and/or backend features while supporting existing development efforts for our industry-leading platform.
Your Mission

Development
  • Support development of Java microservices/Libraries while integrating with Jira, Jira Service Management, Slack, Microsoft Teams, SaaS providers, and AI solutions such as Claude Code, ChatGPT/Codex, and Cursor for OneTrust's AI Governance product.
  • It will involve the designing, development, and unit testing of applications deployed to MS Azure with cloud application architecture using Core Java, REST, and the Spring ecosystem.
  • Contribute to the design of reusable integration patterns, API contracts, authentication, error handling, and data translation across external systems.
  • Help evolve the AI Governance registry and integration capabilities, including entity resolution, workflow integrations, evidence generation, and administrator-facing AI experiences.
  • Achieve at least 80% code coverage or per the revised standards set by the team.

Collaboration
  • Work closely with UX, Product Managers and/or Product Owners, as well as other developers to contribute to planning and grooming sessions and drive team's discussions on system architecture and component design.
  • Collaborate with platform, security, legal, and customer-facing teams to deliver reliable and secure SaaS and AI-solution integrations.
  • Support the team to ensure all committed stories for the sprint are completed per the sprint goal.

Support
  • Work toward reducing total number of defects in the module/product to industry standards by catching and fixing issues early in development.
  • Ensure critical and high priority CII's are delivered per SLA.
  • Help ensure integrations remain reliable as external APIs, SaaS products, and AI solutions evolve.

Code Review
  • Conduct peer reviews to improve code quality.
  • Help junior developers follow development testing, exploratory testing, AI testing and/or test automation.

Lead
  • Help build high-performing teams by mentoring the team on new technical skills.
You Are
  • A hands-on experienced engineer who enjoys solving ambiguous platform and integration problems.
  • A systems thinker who can connect product outcomes, domain models, APIs, external systems, and operational behavior.
  • A pragmatic architect who knows when to build, when to reuse, and how to avoid long-term integration debt.
  • A clear communicator who asks questions to clarify gaps in understanding and makes decisions visible.
  • Comfortable working across product, engineering, security, legal, and customer-facing stakeholders.
  • Motivated by building trustworthy governance capabilities for rapidly evolving AI systems.
Your Experience Includes
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related technical or business field.
  • 8+ years of professional software engineering and software development experience.
  • Extensive hands-on experience with object-oriented design, Java, design patterns, Spring, SQL, web services, and REST APIs.
  • Strong experience designing, building, and operating integrations with external platforms, SaaS applications, workflow systems, and AI solutions such as Jira, Jira Service Management, Slack, Microsoft Teams.
  • Experience integrating with AI tooling and agent platforms (for example Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or MCP-based systems) or comparable rapidly-evolving third-party APIs.
  • Hands-on experience with identity and access management for integrations, including SSO using SAML or OIDC, OAuth, service accounts, API keys, token scopes, roles and claims, role-based access control, and secure credential management.
  • Experience working with webhooks, pagination, rate limiting, retries, idempotency, schema versioning, authentication expiration, external API changes, and customer-specific configuration.
  • Experience building distributed systems, asynchronous workflows, event-driven services, or data-ingestion pipelines using technologies such as Kafka or comparable tools, with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with data modeling and data quality for systems that exchange information across multiple external platforms.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, production monitoring, incident response, Agile development practices, and scripting with Python.
  • Ability to learn and use a wide variety of open-source technologies and enterprise SaaS platforms.
  • Comfort operating ahead of certainty - running discovery work (customer conversations, competitive and regulatory research, feasibility spikes) to resolve open questions before committing engineering.
  • Experience owning a multi-quarter technical roadmap across teams, including build-versus-reuse decisions on shared platform infrastructure where the wrong call creates long-lived duplication.

Extra Awesome
  • Experience with connector frameworks, integration-platform-as-a-service products, workflow engines, or developer platforms, including reusable connector contracts and clear Sensor, Workflow, and Evidence patterns.
  • Experience normalizing heterogeneous external data into a common domain model, including entity resolution, matching, deduplication, or identity/entity graphs.
  • Experience designing workflow integrations that preserve the product's source of truth while synchronizing status and actions with external systems.
  • Experience evaluating shared integration frameworks and making practical build-versus-reuse decisions.
  • Experience with MCP servers, agent platforms, administrator-facing AI assistants, or AI-enabled enterprise applications.
  • Experience with AI observability, OpenTelemetry, LangSmith, model gateways, runtime telemetry, or post-market monitoring.
  • Experience working with privacy, security, GRC, audit, risk, or regulatory data.
  • Experience designing systems that require human review, attestation, immutable evidence, versioned artifacts, or strong audit trails.
