ABOUT THE ROLEPeloton Product Line Architects (PLA's) drive the innovation and optimization of a hardware product (such as the Peloton Bike, Tread, or Row) as well as the development of future Peloton products. This role is within the Hardware Team and reports to the Director of Product Line Architecture.
The PLA has several key responsibilities, the first of which is the acting lead technical role during a new product initiative (NPI). Secondly, the PLA regularly collaborates with Product Management, translating the voice of the customer into the technical requirements that are then used by the design, testing and manufacturing teams to produce our world class products.
Along with the Engineering Program Manager (EPM), the PLA leads and influences, without direct supervisory authority, the technical teams that develop the product concepts and execute the designs. Key to this role is continuous cross-functional interaction with internal and external team members - including but not limited to: Product Management, Program Management, Industrial Design, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Firmware, Quality, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, as well as members of leadership.
As one of the core product team members, your extensive experience will enable you to provide technical leadership and mentorship to others, giving guidance in making key strategic decisions for product direction and category trade-offs. Your diplomacy in maintaining alignment within the groups provides the positive, forward driven approach needed for the teams to succeed.
YOUR DAILY IMPACT AT PELOTON- Develop program direction for a Peloton HW product initiative in alignment with the Product Manager and executive teams
- Monitor and adjust program strategies with cross functional leadership to best suit the current and future needs of the business
- Promote and provide a means for healthy collaboration between cross functional teams as well as with contract and joint development manufacturers (CM's & JDM's), mediating and resolving issues and potential conflicts
- Evangelize Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Lean Engineering concepts ensuring that each product embodies these philosophies
- Develop Product and Engineering Requirements Documentation
- Work crossfunctionally to develop and execute master test plans
- Develop and manage HW team program priorities
- Evaluate resource requirements and work with the appropriate cross functional managers to ensure programs are adequately staffed
- Promote the importance of quality execution and that process deliverables are met according to the Peloton Product Development Process (PDP)
- Ensure that Peloton's products are designed with accessibility and inclusion top of mind
YOU BRING TO PELOTON- A big picture, forward looking and open minded perspective, focused on the needs of the customer and the business
- Relentless drive for continuous improvement with a hands on approach
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
- 7+ years product development experience with strong demonstrable technical skills resulting from multiple successful product launches
- 2+ years leading or managing cross functional teams
- Adept in design for manufacturability, assembly and packaging
- Experience with the design, analysis, testing and manufacture of:
- Electro-Mechanical machinery
- Metal structures (Sheet metal, tubing, castings, weldments)
- Plastic molded parts
- Surface Finishes (powder coat, paint, platings etc.)
- Electronic components
- Demonstrated knowledge of engineering analysis, processes, testing tools and technical documentation standards
- Strong understanding of ODM, JDM, and CM partnerships, and the boundaries between internal and external design ownership
- Understanding of product aesthetic design and branding strategies
- Proven ability to adapt quickly and effectively to unexpected changes in scale, priority and pace
- Proven ability in balancing the needs of the customer with the needs of the manufacturing and operations organizations
- Ability to present and "sell" product concepts and strategies to both internal and external customers
- Willingness to travel internationally to CM & JDM partners to support development programs
- Bonus: fitness industry or similar product development experience

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the anticipated salary range for this position based at our Woodinville, WA headquarters. The actual base salary offered for this position will depend on numerous factors including, without limitation, experience and business objectives, and if the location for the job changes. Base Salary Range
$169,950-$208,750 USD
