Overview

The Staff Agentic Software Automation Engineer sets automation and test direction for a domain or product area, leading the design of scalable automation systems built around agentic tools and approaches. This role has the technical depth and organizational influence to drive adoption of agentic automation practices, including agent orchestration and oversight, across teams, and serves as a senior escalation point for automation and test infrastructure decisions.

  • Set automation and test direction for a domain or product area, embedding agentic tools as the primary methodology for CI, infrastructure, and test workflows.
  • Serve as a senior escalation point for automation and test infrastructure decisions across multiple teams.
  • Drive adoption of agentic automation practices, including agent orchestration and oversight, across teams.
  • Mentor senior engineers and contribute to their technical growth.
  • Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to align automation and test priorities with business needs.

What You Bring:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field (Master's preferred).
  • Work Experience: 7-10 years developing tools for CI automation and test infrastructure, including direction-setting across a domain or product area, and early, hands-on adoption of agentic or AI-assisted automation tools.
  • Deep technical leadership across automation and test infrastructure for a domain or product area, with strong AWS and cloud infrastructure experience for building and deploying applications at scale.
  • Proficiency directing AI-assisted automation tools within the personal engineering workflow, including orchestrating multi-step agent workflows to accelerate CI and test development.
  • Experience with modern agentic and test automation tooling (e.g., Kiro, Claude Code, Playwright, Shiplight, AWS/Terraform).
  • Mentoring senior engineers and cross-functional stakeholder management, coordinating automation and test priorities across teams.

Location: This position must be based in Irvine, CA or Hercules, CA and requires the employee to be located within commuting distance of the office.

Compensation: The estimated base salary range for this position is $157,400 to $200,000 at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be provided in writing at the time of offer, if applicable, and is based on several factors we believe fairly and accurately impact compensation, including geographic location, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other job permitted factors. This position is eligible for a variable annual bonus, which is dependent upon achievement of your individual objectives and Company performance.
