Full Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW

We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Analyst who is independent, results-oriented, self-motivated and wants to be part of a dynamic organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in the deregulated electricity space. As part of the wholesale desk enabling the growth of Hanwha Energy's business, this role will be responsible for running and maintaining all analytical tools needed for risk reporting, retail and wholesale pricing and supply management activities in ERCOT and PJM power markets. Monitoring and reporting risk metrics regularly to senior management, you will gain exposure to a wide range of businesses and products in a global environment. Liaising with Supply, Energy Analytics and support staff, you will ensure that trading systems adequately represent the risk profile of the trading books, and that risk metrics are reported in an accurate and timely manner. You will foster strong relationships with commercial functions and stakeholders across all levels and interact regularly with executive leadership to ensure the market risks arising from day-to-day trading positions are fully understood and managed appropriately within the limit framework.

This role will be located in Houston Texas, and the ideal candidate will be within commutable distance to the Houston office location. This is an onsite required role.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Build and maintain monitoring checks to ensure compliance of all approved risk limits including position and mark-to-market reports.
  • Assist in the marking of all the relevant wholesale and retail price curves including implied hourly scalers and scarcity premiums.
  • Function as the business analyst for all Supply related IT projects
  • Support financial analysis and deliverables for various internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain risk and pricing model inputs covering all the product types.
  • Work closely with the finance team to build the framework needed to help explain supply related drivers impacting forward and settled retail gross margins.
  • Responsible for coordinating Supply related management presentations, contract executions and project management activities.
  • Analyzing complex financial information and reports to provide accurate and timely financial information to supply team and management for decision-making purposes.
  • Providing financial analysis support for the corporate budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Providing key financial analysis to enable both day-to-day and strategic decisions.
  • Preparing financial models and data mining tools for variance analysis.


REQUIRED COMPETENCIES

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree Required in Finance, Economics or any other quantitative hard science.
  • 5-8 years of work experience in Energy Industry.
  • Experience in deregulated electricity markets.
  • Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills coupled with deep analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to assess mathematical derivative pricing models within the context of real-world market conditions.
  • Strong verbal and writing skills.
  • Ability to multitask and work under multiple deadlines.
  • Eligible to work in the USA for any employer without sponsorship.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Financial Planning and Analysis skills.
  • Advanced technological skills particularly financial modeling in Excel, Python and SQL.
  • MBA and/or CPA a plus.


COMPENSATION: $138,000 - $153,000 salary
