Job Summary:

Supermicro is seeking a Senior Manager, Public Affairs to develop, implement, and lead media relations and public affairs strategies that further the advocacy and policy goals of the company-shaping the narrative around reputation management, state and federal legislation, regulation, and policies that affect Supermicro's business and reputation. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Government Affairs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under the general direction of the Senior Director of Government Affairs, the Senior Manager, Public Affairs will:
  • Develop, implement, and lead comprehensive media and advocacy strategies for Supermicro's reputational and policy priorities with media and critical stakeholders, in partnership with the Senior Director, Corporate Communications.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor on external narrative, ensuring Supermicro's voice, tone, and strategic priorities are communicated with discipline with government, third-party stakeholders and media.
  • Build integrated external affairs campaigns that mobilize media/reporters, third-party validators, coalition partners, and grasstops advocates in support of the company's priorities.
  • Monitor state and federal legislation, regulation, and policy developments, and gather the testimonials, customer stories, and data points needed to support Supermicro's response.
  • Collaborate with marketing, communications and relevant departments on public affairs policy outreach efforts.
  • Cultivate relationships with beat reporters (e.g., Sacramento, DC, technology, trade, and policy press) with Senior Director of Government Affairs.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, journalism, government relations, or a related field.
  • At least 8 years of progressively responsible public relations experience, including 4+ years in public policy, advocacy, government relations, external affairs, or similar roles.
  • Experience working with media covering public policy, advocacy, technology, and/or politics, with a proven track record of securing major coverage.
  • Thorough knowledge of best practices for external affairs and reputation management, with the ability to maximize Supermicro's presence in national, regional, and trade media outlets.
  • Exceptional writing and communications skills, with the ability to rapidly learn the company's culture, policies, operations and translate them into messages that advance Supermicro in public affairs.
  • Strategic thinker and self-motivated project manager, able to deliver multiple projects independently and collaboratively under the leadership of the Senior Director of Government Affairs.
  • Ability to work effectively and aid Senior Director of Government Affairs on daily activities and projects.
  • Discretion in managing confidential and sensitive matters.


Salary Range

$135,000 - $160,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
