Job Summary:

Supermicro is seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Manager, Export Compliance to lead and elevate our global trade compliance efforts. This role requires a seasoned professional adept at navigating complex regulatory environments while driving operational efficiency and risk management. The Senior Manager will oversee the development, execution, and continuous improvement of export compliance programs, ensuring alignment with U.S. and international trade regulations. As a senior leader, this role will directly influence corporate strategies and support the company's growth in high-performance computing, AI, and cloud technologies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy:
  • Lead the company's global export compliance program, setting the vision and strategy to address evolving regulations, emerging technologies, and business priorities.
  • Collaborate with executive leadership to align export compliance initiatives with organizational goals, supporting Supermicro's international operations and growth.
  • Represent Supermicro in discussions with regulatory bodies and industry groups to advocate for trade policies and practices that align with corporate objectives.

Global Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure comprehensive compliance with U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR), anti-boycott laws, and Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) sanctions, as well as international trade regulations, including those in the EU and Asia.
  • Manage export control classifications of goods, software, and technology, ensuring alignment with dual-use regulations and addressing complex compliance scenarios related to high-performance computing and AI.
  • Oversee licensing activities, including the preparation, submission, and management of export licenses, technical assistance agreements, and commodity jurisdiction requests.

Risk Management & Process Optimization:
  • Establish a robust export compliance risk assessment framework, conducting regular evaluations and implementing controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance ERP and other systems for automated trade compliance processes, leveraging technology and data analytics to identify trends and prevent violations.
  • Oversee third-party screening programs, ensuring effective processes for vetting and monitoring transactions against restricted party lists.

Training & Development:
  • Develop and deliver executive-level and organization-wide training programs on export controls, sanctions, and trade compliance topics, fostering a culture of compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to internal stakeholders, providing expert guidance on complex regulatory requirements and compliance best practices.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:
  • Partner with legal, supply chain, IT, and other internal teams to ensure trade compliance is integrated into business operations and aligned with broader corporate compliance strategies.
  • Coordinate with customs brokers, logistics providers, and government agencies to address export-related challenges and streamline processes.
  • Promote supply chain security initiatives, ensuring compliance with programs like C-TPAT (Customs-Trade Partnership Against Terrorism).

Continuous Improvement:
  • Drive innovation in export compliance by implementing process improvements, automating workflows, and adopting cutting-edge tools to ensure efficiency and accuracy.
  • Stay informed of emerging trends and regulations in global trade, advising leadership on potential impacts and strategic adjustments.


Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Education:
    • Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree or professional certifications (e.g., CUSECO, ICA, ASCB) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 12+ years of progressive experience in export compliance, with at least 7 years in a leadership role within the technology or semiconductor industry.
    • Demonstrated expertise in managing global trade compliance programs and navigating complex regulatory environments, including U.S.-China trade relations.
  • Skills:
    • In-depth knowledge of EAR, OFAC, ITAR, and international trade regulations.
    • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence senior stakeholders in a global organization.
    • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to translate regulatory requirements into actionable business strategies.
    • Advanced technical proficiency with compliance-related tools, ERP systems, and data analytics platforms.
    • Exceptional communication and leadership skills, capable of driving organizational change and fostering collaboration.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Expertise in dual-use export controls and experience addressing compliance challenges for emerging technologies, such as AI, high-performance computing, and cloud-based systems.
  • Familiarity with global sanctions programs and experience managing compliance in high-risk jurisdictions.
  • Experience implementing large-scale compliance systems and overseeing multi-country compliance operations.


Salary Range

$160,000 - $185,000

The salary offered will depend on several factors, including your location, level, education, training, specific skills, years of experience, and comparison to other employees already in this role. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation, such as participation in bonus and equity award programs.
