JOB DESCRIPTION
Be an integral part of an agile team that's constantly pushing the envelope to enhance, build, and deliver top-notch technology products. 
As a Sr. Lead Software Engineer at JPMorgan Chase within the Enterprise Technology - Cloud Financial Management Group, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way.  As a core technical contributor, you are responsible for conducting critical technology solutions across multiple technical areas within carious business support functions and in support of the firm's business objectives.  
Job responsibilities
 
  • Regularly provides technical guidance and direction to support the business and its technical teams, contractors, and vendors
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
  • Drives adoption and governance of approved AI-assisted engineering practices across teams to improve code quality, delivery speed, and operational outcomes (e.g., AI-assisted code review/refactoring, test acceleration, release readiness, incident/root-cause analysis), while establishing measurable validation standards (secure coding, peer review, automated testing) and promoting reuse of proven patterns and automation within the SDLC/TLM toolchain.
  • Applies knowledge of tools within the Software Development Life Cycle toolchain, including approved AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve the value realized by automation at scale.
  • Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
  • Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
  • Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Leads evaluation sessions with external vendors, startups, and internal teams to drive outcomes-oriented probing of architectural designs, technical credentials, and applicability for use within existing systems and information architecture

     

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
  • Advanced in modern front-end development with React JS, including component-driven architecture, state management, performance optimization, and building responsive, accessible user interfaces.
  • Hands-on experience modernizing front-end applications (e.g., migrating legacy UI stacks to React, improving build/tooling and CI/CD) and automation scripting for the front end (e.g., automated UI testing, build/release automation, and regression prevention).
  • Advanced in one or more programming language(s), specifically Java or Python
  • Demonstrated experience leading effective use of approved AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., for coding, code review, test acceleration, troubleshooting) with the ability to set team expectations for validating AI outputs for correctness, performance, and security.
  • Strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity considerations, secure handling of inputs/outputs, and adherence to resiliency and security expectations; experience coaching engineers on safe, compliant adoption within delivery practices
  • Ability to tackle design and functionality problems independently with little to no oversight
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Advanced understanding of agile methodologies such as CI/CD, Application Resiliency, and Security
  • In-depth knowledge of the financial services industry and their IT systems
  • Practical cloud native experience
 
 
 
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
 
  • E2E testing with Playwright (or similar)
  • Experience with charting/data visualization libraries (e.g., D3/Highcharts/ECharts) and building analytics-style UIs
  • Experience integrating front-end applications with backend APIs and working with large datasets (performance, pagination/virtualization, caching, error handling).
