Full Job Description

Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, technology development, warfighter capability enablers, systems integration, defense industrial base, and threat reduction to help shape existing and future space missions across the national security space (NSS) enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including the U.S. Space Force, U.S. Space Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of technical support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers’ portfolios as well as horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation. Additionally, DSG provides deep technical expertise to the Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC) in the conception, design, acquisition, launch and operations of satellite, launch vehicle, ground control, and range systems.

The Acquisition Management Department in the Space Architecture and Integration Division supports the United States Space Force with integration of end-to-end missions through the development of standards, MOSA strategies, enterprise technical baselines, spectrum management, space debris management, budget prioritization, and enterprise risk management. Our work directly shapes how the USSF fields capabilities faster, more efficiently, and with reduced strategic risk. We are looking for an Enterprise Risk Management Senior Project Engineer (Senior Project Engineer - Systems Engineering) who will provide strategic guidance to the USSF on enterprise risk management processes while coordinating cross-functional technical teams to identify, analyze, and mitigate critical space mission risks. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with multi-disciplinary teams of high-caliber subject matter experts to address the USSF's most critical risks while building the foundation for how the USSF will identify and mitigate risks to effectively integrate and deliver end-to-end missions in the future.

The selected candidate will be required to work full-time, on-site at our facility in El Segundo, CA.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Provide strategic guidance to the USSF on the Space Enterprise Risk Management process, including refinements to risk management policies, processes, and governance structures
  • Coordinate technical subject matter expert support for risk analysis activities, ensuring analyses are aligned with risk management and mitigation objectives and delivered on schedule to support enterprise integration and system delivery timelines
  • Lead coordination efforts across enterprise technical baseline and budget prioritization teams to align risk mitigation efforts, data repositories, and related activities for maximum effectiveness
  • Participate in risk management forums as a technical advisor, representing Aerospace expertise and providing objective recommendations to USSF leadership
  • Provide direct support to enterprise technical baseline and budget prioritization teams to establish a robust, integrated system that enables effective identification, prioritization, and mitigation of USSF risks, issues, gaps, and opportunities
  • Develop technical documentation and data management systems to support enterprise-level risk tracking, analysis, and decision-making

What You Need to be Successful

  • Strong written and oral communication skills with experience presenting to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Experience with data management, technical documentation, and information systems
  • Ability to assess technical analyses for alignment with program objectives and provide constructive guidance to subject matter experts
  • Willing to travel occasionally (less than 10%, primarily domestic)
  • This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
