Full Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Electrical Engineer will work in the design and development of power supplies. This position will envision and validate innovations of advanced power solutions and enhance overall customer experience. This role will also be responsible for a diverse range of engineering tasks including designing, testing, and analyzing systems and components as part of a focused team. Lastly, this position will be responsible for summarizing results and delivering proposals to management.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Design and develop efficient and cost-effective circuits and power supplies per customer and regulatory specifications (i.e., analog and digital circuits, embedded controls logic, magnetics, EMI filters, power circuits, etc.) including, schematic capture, board layout, prototype testing, and bench testing code development.
  • Interface with internal departments to ensure schedule, cost, and quality goals are met.
  • Develop analytical models, simulation tools, and other predictive methods to reduce changes on subsequent iterations of each design.
  • Participate as an active part of the core team to meet schedule, cost, quality, and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Assist in the development, testing, and de-bugging of prototype power supply units.
  • Analyze test data and reports to determine if design meets functional and performance specifications.


WORK ENVIRONMENT:
  • Location: Eden Prairie, MN
  • Environment: Standard office environment, possible interaction through a production factory environment
  • Uses electronic equipment and can work with high voltage


QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Ability to follow standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be obtained
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and peers
  • Ability to learn and use professional concepts appropriate to engineering, including analytical methods, computer aided analysis and design tools, diagnostic instruments and test equipment, lab skills appropriate to design, selecting appropriate components and materials for designs
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Excellent problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form
  • Proficiency with Windows-based platforms and with computer-based design and analysis tools.
  • Working knowledge of Database, Spreadsheet, and Word Processing software
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; consistent demonstrated ability to meet schedule requirements and define priorities without direct supervision


EXPERIENCE:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in electronics design or similar experience
  • Experience with Mathcad, Cadence or Altium, Spice based circuit simulation, and scripting/test generation software


EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Enginnering or similar required


COMPENSATION:

As required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. The range of starting pay for this role is $95,000 to $145,000 per year.
