Job Description:

Intelligentsia seeks an experienced, growth-oriented Sr. Ecommerce Manager to own and elevate the day-to-day performance, customer experience, and digital sales strategy of intelligentsiacoffee.com.

You will translate our passion for Extraordinary Coffee - from Direct Trade sourcing to seasonal harvests and limited micro-lot releases - into engaging online experiences that drive traffic, conversion, and subscriber retention. Working cross-functionally with our coffee sourcing, roasting, marketing, and fulfillment teams, you will optimize our DTC online storefront, scale our coffee subscription programs, and champion our commitment to quality across every digital touchpoint. 

Location: Hybrid. Must live in the Chicagoland area with ability to travel to the Roasting Works in Bedford Park, IL 1 to 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities:

Ecommerce Operations & Growth Strategy

  • Own and manage the day-to-day performance of intelligentsiacoffee.com, driving key sales, traffic, and conversion metrics.

  • Develop and execute the overall ecommerce growth strategy, including digital merchandising, site promotional calendars, and the scaling of our coffee subscription programs.

  • Collaborate with the Coffee team to align on specialty coffee release schedules, seasonal offerings, and unified omni-channel sales strategies.

Site Management & User Experience (UX)

  • Manage the end-to-end digital site experience, serving as the main point of contact for external technology vendors and internal design/development teams for feature updates, redesigns, and site maintenance.

  • Manage and maintain the secondary Wholesale website content updates and optimizations 

  • Support with retail App configurations, data reporting, updates, promotions, loyalty programs and user experience

  • Drive Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO) through continuous site updates, continuous UX improvements, and structured A/B testing protocols.

  • Manage relationships with ecommerce platform and technology vendors.

Cross-Functional Marketing & Analytics

  • Partner closely with marketing teams on email campaigns, paid media, and content initiatives to acquire new customers and drive qualified site traffic.

  • Analyze site, campaign, and customer data to uncover optimization opportunities and deliver clear performance reporting to stakeholders.

  • Leverage analytics to inform merchandising decisions, inventory needs, and subscription retention strategies.

Operations, Leadership & Vendor Management

  • Oversee site inventory visibility and coordinate directly with fulfillment and operations teams to ensure accurate stock levels and smooth logistics execution.

  • Direct and manage external ecommerce platform platforms and technology vendor relationships to maintain site performance and tool integration.

  • Mentor, manage, and support the professional development of team members as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • 5+ years of dedicated ecommerce management experience, with a strong background in Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), CPG, or the Food & Beverage space.

  • Highly analytical with deep hands-on expertise in ecommerce platforms (Shopify/Shopify Plus).

  • Strong data literacy and web analytics skills (Google Analytics/GA4, dashboards, heat maps, etc.) with the ability to turn data into actionable business decisions.

  • Proven track record with A/B testing methodologies, conversion rate optimization (CRO), subscription program management, and digital product merchandising.

  • Excellent project management capabilities, strong cross-functional collaboration skills, and experience managing or mentoring team members.

  • A strong passion for coffee and alignment with Intelligentsia’s commitment to quality, sourcing, and brand values is highly preferred.

Preferred Experience

  • Direct experience running recurring subscription models (e.g., Recharge, Skio, Ordergroove).

  • Background managing specialized CPG, beverage, or perishable product launches.

  • Staying ahead of emerging digital trends, new ecommerce apps, changing consumer behavior, and search algorithm updates.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear

  • Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch

  • Office and warehouse environments; not climate-controlled

  • Base Salary: $95,000 - $115,000 Annually
