Job Summary:

Supermicro is seeking a Senior Director of Strategic Business Development to lead high-impact growth initiatives across AI infrastructure, hyperscale data centers, enterprise cloud, HPC, edge computing, and rack-scale total solutions.

This role will serve as a senior commercial and technical leader responsible for identifying strategic market opportunities, developing executive customer relationships, shaping complex solution pursuits, and converting customer infrastructure requirements into scalable, revenue-generating business opportunities. The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of data-center infrastructure, server platforms, rack-scale architectures, GPU/CPU systems, liquid cooling, networking, storage, and ecosystem partnerships.

The Senior Director will work cross-functionally with sales, engineering, product management, solutions architecture, operations, finance, marketing, and executive leadership to expand Supermicro's footprint with hyperscalers, cloud service providers, enterprise AI customers, large data-center operators, OEMs, and strategic technology partners.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Strategic Growth and Market Development

Develop and execute strategic business development plans to expand Supermicro's presence across AI infrastructure, data-center, cloud, enterprise, HPC, telco, edge, and vertical industry markets.

Identify, evaluate, and prioritize high-value business opportunities involving rack-scale solutions, GPU clusters, liquid-cooled infrastructure, storage platforms, networking, management software, and integrated data-center deployments.

Build business cases for new market opportunities, including customer demand, competitive positioning, margin profile, partner requirements, roadmap alignment, operational feasibility, and revenue potential.

Customer and Partner Engagement

Own and expand senior-level relationships with strategic customers, including cloud providers, hyperscalers, enterprise AI teams, data-center operators, OEMs, system integrators, telcos, and major enterprise accounts.

Engage with customer executives, infrastructure leaders, procurement teams, engineering stakeholders, and data-center architects to understand technical requirements, buying priorities, deployment timelines, and competitive dynamics.

Lead complex, multi-stakeholder customer engagements from opportunity identification through solution definition, commercial alignment, executive approval, and deal closure.

Solution Strategy and Deal Execution

Partner with engineering, product management, solutions architecture, and sales teams to shape differentiated infrastructure offerings for AI, HPC, cloud, data-center refresh, and edge workloads.

Translate customer requirements into compelling solution proposals involving servers, storage, networking, rack integration, liquid cooling, power, firmware, software, and support services.

Create and present executive-level value propositions, technical-commercial proposals, ROI models, and competitive differentiation narratives.

Support negotiation strategy for large, complex, multi-million-dollar opportunities, including pricing, margin optimization, volume commitments, roadmap dependencies, supply-chain considerations, and long-term account expansion.

Cross-Functional Leadership

Act as a bridge between customers, sales, product teams, engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and executive leadership.

Provide structured voice-of-customer insights to influence product roadmap priorities, platform enhancements, go-to-market strategy, and investment decisions.

Drive internal alignment across technical, commercial, and operational teams to ensure customer commitments are feasible, profitable, and scalable.

Pipeline, Revenue, and Performance Management

Build and maintain a robust pipeline of strategic opportunities across target accounts, verticals, partners, and geographies.

Establish clear business development metrics, including pipeline creation, opportunity conversion, revenue contribution, strategic account penetration, customer expansion, partner-sourced opportunities, and margin impact.

Monitor competitive activity and develop strategies to win against competing server, storage, cloud infrastructure, and integrated rack-scale solution providers.

Deliver accurate forecasts, opportunity updates, customer intelligence, and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related technical or commercial field.

15+ years of experience in strategic business development, enterprise technology sales, solutions sales, product strategy, technical account leadership, or partner development within data-center infrastructure, servers, hardware, cloud, AI infrastructure, HPC, networking, storage, or related industries.

Proven track record closing or influencing large-scale enterprise, hyperscale, cloud, OEM, or data-center infrastructure deals.

Strong understanding of rack-scale server architecture, GPU/CPU platforms, storage systems, networking, power, cooling, systems management, and data-center deployment models.

Experience working with AI infrastructure, accelerated computing, high-density server deployments, liquid cooling, or hyperscale data-center environments.

Demonstrated ability to engage credibly with both executive business leaders and technical infrastructure stakeholders.

Strong commercial acumen, including pipeline development, revenue forecasting, pricing strategy, deal structuring, margin awareness, and customer negotiation.

Experience leading cross-functional initiatives across sales, engineering, product management, operations, finance, supply chain, and executive stakeholders.

Ability to travel approximately 25% or more for customer meetings, executive briefings, industry events, and partner engagements.

Preferred Qualifications

MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

Established network across AI infrastructure, hyperscale cloud, enterprise data-center, semiconductor, GPU, server OEM, systems integration, or strategic technology partner ecosystems.

Experience with NVIDIA, AMD, Intel, or other major compute, accelerator, networking, and data-center ecosystem partners.

Familiarity with liquid-cooled rack deployments, AI clusters, private cloud infrastructure, edge AI, telco infrastructure, software-defined storage, or data-center modernization programs.

Experience building new business lines, launching strategic partnerships, or scaling emerging technology solutions from concept to revenue.

Strong understanding of total cost of ownership, performance-per-watt, rack density, supply-chain constraints, data-center power/cooling considerations, and deployment economics.
