ABOUT THE ROLEJoin the SC Johnson Lifestyle Brands team at our South Side Soapbox manufacturing facility, located on the South Side of Chicago, where you’ll play a critical role in supporting the production of our iconic method® and Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day® brands.
In this highly collaborative Materials Planning role, you’ll help drive manufacturing success by ensuring the right raw materials and packaging are available at the right time. You’ll manage supplier relationships, optimize inventory levels, and leverage planning systems such as SAP and Kinaxis Rapid Response to support production schedules while balancing cost, capacity, and operational efficiency.
Working closely with Production, Supply Planning, Procurement, and Logistics, you’ll proactively solve supply challenges, identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and help strengthen overall supply chain performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES- Leverage available systems (i.e. SAP, Kinaxis Rapid Response) to create purchase orders for selected packaging and raw materials needed to support scheduled production
- Hold vendors accountable to ensure material delivery on a timely basis, escalating issues with procurement and logistics teams to ensure best in class service, manage POs for timely delivery.
- Manage inventory by placing orders to avoid material shortages and keep within capacity and receiving constraints
- Plan material with short and long lead time items, including daily deliveries from our storage facilities
- Monthly KPI update and root cause analysis on main supply chain losses
- Represent the Materials team by collaborating with supply planning teams to ensure material availability for production at in-house manufacturing facility
- Partner with the local production team to understand and monitor production efficiency and output to be able to plan materials within our space constraints
- Provide back-up support to other Materials Planning team members covering busy times and periods of vacation
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE YOU’LL BRING- Bachelors degree and 3+ years of Supply Chain Planning experience, including experience in data analysis and planning for a production facility
- 1+ years experience with material management systems such as SAP and Kinaxis Rapid Response
- Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future without sponsorship
PREFERRED EXPERIENCES AND SKILLS- Experience in materials planning, production planning, inventory management, or supply chain operations within a manufacturing environment, preferably in consumer packaged goods (CPG)
- Working knowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) systems and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, preferably SAP
- Experience managing raw material and packaging component inventories to ensure production continuity while minimizing excess and obsolete inventory
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret inventory data, identify supply risks, and develop proactive solutions
- Experience supporting new product introductions, product transitions, and material phase-in/phase-out activities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and data analysis
- Demonstrated ability to monitor supplier performance, manage material shortages, and resolve delivery issues to minimize production disruptions
- Familiarity with key supply chain performance indicators (KPIs), including inventory turns, supplier on-time delivery, schedule attainment, and material availability
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional partners
JOB REQUIREMENTS- Full-time, on-site Monday through Friday schedule, with availability during non-routine hours as business needs require
- Requires regular presence on the manufacturing floor and use of required safety equipment, including safety glasses, hearing protection and steel-toed footwear
- Minimal travel anticipated (10%); ability to travel if requested
- This position is not eligible for remote work

The Company's Total Rewards package is at or above industry levels. The expected base salary range for this position is between 69,973.00 USD - 91,840.00 USD. Job related skills, experience, education, and location will be considered in setting actual starting base salary. In addition to your base salary and depending on job level, eligibility, and performance, a total package may include profit sharing, a short-term incentive and/or long-term incentives.
