Job Description:

The Sr. Advanced Quality Engineer - Fall Protection provides quality and reliability engineering leadership to cross-functional project teams developing and manufacturing occupational fall-protection products. The AQE directly interfaces with New Product Development, Product Support, and Value Engineering teams. Primary duties are to lead and direct the quality activities of project teams to successfully meet Project Quality Objectives as well as project goals including Time-To-Market, Cost, and Performance for this highly regulated and safety critical category.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serve as the Sr. Team lead for the Quality and Reliability function while supporting process improvement initiatives.

Reliability Functions:
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Marketing, and Regulatory teams to translate customer needs and regulatory requirements into product performance and design specifications.
  • Apply robust understanding of OSHA, ANSI/ASSP, and EN regulatory compliance ensuring critical safety products protect end users and meet all applicable regulations.
  • Support the product design process including benchmarking and testing of concepts & prototypes.
  • Develop and execute risk-based test procedures to validate product specifications and ensure Quality and Reliability readiness.
  • Lead Risk Assessments (Design and Manufacturing) during the product development cycle.
  • Draw concise, logical, written conclusions from experiments based on data analysis
  • Perform failure analysis and recommend solutions with corrective action, as required.
  • Proactively seek out quality improvements for new and existing products.


Quality Functions - New Product team:
  • Work with global operations, materials, manufacturing engineering, and quality engineering teams to develop QC mitigation strategies for high-risk specifications.
  • Establish Critical to Quality (CTQ) characteristics and controls for high strength textile-based products.
  • Provide technical guidance to develop manufacturing, inspection, and testing requirements for safety critical products with various teams at both internal and supplier facilities.
  • Lead supplier evaluation, process qualification, capability assessment, manufacturing readiness, and quality planning for global suppliers and manufacturing sites
  • Collaborate with US, European, and Asian based manufacturing and supplier representatives to ensure operational readiness of new product launches.
  • Participate in the evaluation and selection of suppliers.
  • Able to call, lead and conduct global, cross functional team members with the following participants: New product development engineering, internal/external operations/suppliers, quality and supply chain.


Requirements:

Master's or equivalent degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing/Production, Materials Engineering or related engineering field and 2 years of relevant experience or Bachelor's or equivalent degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing/Production, Materials Engineering or related engineering field and 5 years of relevant experience. Experience must include:
  • Regulated new product development environment.
  • Research and development with soft goods, natural or synthetic materials that are flexible including but not limited to textiles, foams, rubber, films or equivalent.
  • Manufacturing quality experience in a regulated product field
  • Test development and execution experience in a regulated product field
  • Engineering tools such as Critical to Quality/Quality Function Deployment, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Design of Experiments (DOE), Control Plans, Risk Analysis through Failure Modes Effects Analysis (FMEA) and metrology methods
  • Statistical tools such as MiniTab
