The Role

The Specialist, Studio Communications will play a critical role on our Corporate Communications team, helping to tell the stories behind the stories our members see onscreen. Netflix films in studios and on location across the United States and a priority for this role will be working with teams across Studio Management, Content Communications, Publicity, Production, Talent Development and more to share how our productions are having an impact on communities and the people who live there. The ideal candidate has experience and a demonstrated ability to define the narrative of publicly listed companies, at both a business and consumer level.

Key to this role is being creative and proactive, making wise decisions, and exercising sound judgment even when faced with ambiguity. We27re looking for a creative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is an entrepreneurial self-starter unafraid to take calculated risks. Additionally, the role requires a collaborative team player who is resourceful, optimistic, and solution-oriented. This role is based out of the Los Angeles office and reports to the Senior Director, Communications, UCAN Studios and Canada.

Responsibilities

  • Support with developing and implementing communications strategies, messaging and plans to amplify Netflix27s work at our studios across the US.

  • Support day-to-day internal alignment and review processes, working with cross-functional teams, including Studio Management, Content Communications, Publicity, Production, Talent Development, our Eyeline partners and other teams as needed.

  • Draft communications plans, announcements, briefing materials, and messaging documents.

  • Track, vet, and respond to media requests; developing and nurturing media contacts.

  • Identify impactful story angles, craft pitches, and secure stories centered around Netflix27s consumer products and experiences.

  • Track, analyze and circulate press coverage reports and competitive research.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in corporate or agency settings with a focus on corporate communications and/or public affairs

  • Working media relationships at traditional and emerging business, trade and consumer outlets

  • Experience handling a high volume of complex projects and tasks for multiple people and teams while simultaneously managing competing priorities

  • A curious and ambitious self-starter with a pulse on what makes for culture-defining conversations and an ability to put Netflix at the forefront.

  • Passionate about the evolving entertainment landscape with a strong working knowledge of different press, social platforms and trends.

  • Clear and concise communication style; strong written and verbal skills that can effectively convey complex ideas

  • Meticulous organizational skills, good judgment of brand and comms risks, and effective time management.

  • Have a point of view, and be able to offer a unique perspective and voice

Generally, our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $128,000.00 - $208,000.00.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
