ABC 7/WJLA-TV in Washington, DC is looking for a Special Projects Producer. If you're a Jack (or Jill!) -of-all-Trades, a utility infielder who can handle everything from election planning to quarterly I-Team specials and other newsroom projects as they come up. If you love writing, producing, research, graphics, great content production, soup to nuts - we want to hear from you!

The Ideal Candidate:
  • Experienced journalist able to produce compelling, impactful content for broadcast, digital and social platforms.
  • Political junkie, deeply engaged in issues and versed in interviewing/profiling candidates and communicating with campaigns at all levels of government.
  • Comfortable producing longform specials, Town Halls, and similar productions on deadline.
  • Strong communication skills, positive attitude.
  • Capable problem-solver.
  • Collaborative content creator who enjoys being part of a team.
  • Clear and thorough understanding of copyright, libel and defamation law as they relate to our industry.
  • Understands the 24-7 nature of news and is available to work nights, weekends and holidays as needed.

The hourly compensation range for this role is $38.46 to $46.58. Final compensation for this role will be determined by various factors such as a candidate's relevant work experience, skills, certifications, and geographic location. Full time positions are eligible for benefits that include participation in a retirement plan, life and disability insurance, health, dental and vision plans, flexible spending accounts, sick leave, vacation time, personal time, parental leave and employee stock purchase plan.
