Job Summary

The Systems Architect provides technical leadership for the design, development, integration, and evolution of complex systems and systems-of-systems. Working within a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) environment, the Systems Architect establishes and maintains the architectural vision, supports Agile Release Trains (ARTs), and ensures alignment between mission objectives, stakeholder requirements, and technical implementation. This role applies Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies using SysML and DoDAF architectural frameworks to define system architectures, analyze requirements, manage technical risk, and support digital engineering initiatives throughout

Responsibilities
  • Define and maintain system architecture, technical baselines, and architecture roadmaps for complex programs and mission systems.
  • Develop and communicate architectural vision across Agile Release Trains (ARTs), Product Management, engineering teams, and stakeholders.
  • Establish and maintain architecture runway to support future capabilities and technology insertion.
  • Develop and maintain system models using MBSE methodologies and industry-standard modeling tools.
  • Create and manage SysML models including requirements, behavior, structure, interfaces, and parametric diagrams.
  • Ensure model traceability between stakeholder needs, system requirements, architecture artifacts, and implementation.
  • Develop and maintain DoDAF-compliant architecture products and viewpoints.
  • Develop and maintain requirements traceability from mission objectives through implementation and verification.
  • Identify and mitigate technical risks associated with architecture decisions and system implementation.
  • Ensure architectural compliance with DoD, Navy, and federal cybersecurity requirements.
  • Support Risk Management Framework (RMF), Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA), and secure-by-design initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications
  • US Citizenship
  • Must have an active DOD Secret Clearance
  • Must have Level 1 or higher IAT Certification (A+ CE, Security+, CCNA-Security, CND, Network+ CE, SSCP)
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical field.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to use word processing tools
  • If applicable: If you are or have been recently employed by the U.S. government, a post-employment ethics letter will be required if employment with VSolvit is offered

Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years of systems engineering, systems architecture, or technical leadership experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with DoD C41SR, maintenance, logistics, or business systems preferred but will consider other relevant industry experience supporting complex solutions as approved by the COR
  • Demonstrated Experience applying Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) methodologies.
  • Demonstrated Proficiency with SysML modeling tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, MagicDraw, or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated Experience developing DoDAF architecture products and viewpoints.
  • Demonstrated Knowledge of systems engineering lifecycle processes, requirements management, and systems integration.
  • Demonstrated Experience supporting RMF, Zero Trust, DevSecOps, and cloud-based architectures.
  • Master's degree in Systems Engineering, Engineering Management, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • SAFe® System Architect certification or other SAFe certifications.
  • INCOSE ASEP, CSEP, or ESEP certification.
  • Experience supporting U.S. Navy, Department of Defense, or federal government programs.
  • Knowledge of Digital Engineering Strategy implementation.
