ABOUT THE JOBWe are seeking a Software QA Engineer to join our rapidly growing team in Reston, Virginia. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and executing test plans, identifying software defects, and ensuring the overall quality of our products
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Develop and execute manual and automated test plans, test cases, and test scripts for software & firmware products
- Perform thorough functional, regression, and user acceptance testing with hardware-in-the-loop
- Identify, document, and track software/firmware defects
- Collaborate with developers to debug issues and verify fixes
- Contribute to continuous improvement of testing methodologies
- Create comprehensive validation plans to include clear pass/fail criteria and adherence to relevant industry standards, ensuring precise traceability from design requirements to specific test procedures.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- 2+ years of experience in software quality assurance
- Testing in Linux and Windows environments
- Strong understanding of core networking principles and basic IP networking protocols
- Proficiency in using network analysis tools, such as Wireshark.
- Attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Experience with Git and common platforms like Gitlab, Github or Bitbucket
- Experience with bug tracking systems (e.g., JIRA, Bugzilla)
- Strong debugging, analytical and creative problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
- Aptitude for learning
- Good documentation skills
- Ability to adapt & contribute to changing priorities
- Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active secret security clearance (at a minimum)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Basic proficiency in Python or other coding languages
- Familiarity of automated testing frameworks such as Pytest
- Automated UI testing tools like Playwright or Selenium is a plus
- Experience validating designs intended for harsh or deployed environments (ruggedized, airborne, or space).
US Salary Range
$166,000-$220,000 USD
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
