Full Job Description
Software Engineer - Smart Construction 3D - Hybrid in Philadelphia, PA
Build software that changes how the physical world gets built.
You9ll help build 3D products that allow contractors to combine CAD files, aerial and satellite imagery, drone-captured point clouds, terrain data, and other project information to visualize, analyze, and plan complex construction projects.
Think centimeter-level terrain precision, massive geospatial datasets, earthwork calculations, digital twins, and interactive 3D environments.
And that9s only where we9re starting.
Our longer-term roadmap includes remote and autonomous construction, with cloud systems coordinating fleets of heavy machinery across jobsites.
Why this role is different
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who wants meaningful technical ownership.
You9ll write and ship production code every day, work across the stack, solve challenging 3D and geospatial problems, and see your work used in real-world construction environments.
You9ll also join an engineering organization actively redefining how software gets built with AI.
We believe great engineers don9t compete with AI-they learn how to direct it.
Every engineer has access to modern AI development tools, including Claude Code, ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, and Gemini. AI agents contribute meaningfully to first-draft code and testing, while engineers remain responsible for architecture, technical judgment, review, quality, and what ultimately ships.
Our interview process reflects how we actually work: our technical interview is AI-assisted, and you9re encouraged to use the tools you use in your real development workflow.
What you9ll own
You9ll:
Design, build, test, document, and continuously ship production software.
Build customer-facing 3D experiences that help contractors understand and manage complex projects.
Work across the stack, from CesiumJS rendering in the browser to cloud-based geospatial data pipelines.
Solve problems involving terrain, imagery, point clouds, CAD data, visualization, and large-scale geospatial datasets.
Use AI coding agents as part of your daily engineering workflow-and critically review, refine, and improve their output.
Own features from initial technical design through production.
Improve engineering quality through thoughtful code reviews, pair programming, testing, and technical collaboration.
Collaborate directly with engineering teams in Japan as part of one global product organization.
Help shape the technical practices and culture of our growing North American engineering team.
Technology you9ll work with
You don9t need to be an expert in every technology below. We9re more interested in strong engineers who can learn quickly and make sound technical decisions.
Application & Data
JavaScript TypeScript Lit React CesiumJS Node.js GraphQL Python C++ GDAL
Testing
Jasmine Karma Vitest Playwright GoogleTest
Cloud & Infrastructure
AWS Google Cloud Terraform Docker
Build & CI/CD

What we9re looking for
You may be a strong fit if you have:
5+ years of professional software development experience building, shipping, and supporting production systems.
Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience with at least part of our technology stack.
The ability-and curiosity-to learn unfamiliar technologies quickly.
Experience incorporating AI development tools into your day-to-day engineering workflow.
The technical judgment to recognize where AI-generated solutions work well, where they don9t, and when human intervention matters.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Experience collaborating effectively across teams, disciplines, and time zones.
A computer science degree, related technical degree, or equivalent practical experience.
Authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Ability to work from our Philadelphia office at least two days per week.
Even better if you9ve worked with
WebGL, GIS, mapping, or 3D graphics technologies such as CesiumJS, Three.js, or deck.gl.
Large datasets, particularly point clouds, imagery, terrain, or other geospatial information.
AWS and Docker-based development environments.
Globally distributed engineering organizations.
Construction, mining, agriculture, robotics, heavy equipment, or other industrial technology.
Don9t check every box?
If you9re a strong software engineer who is excited about 3D technology, geospatial systems, AI-assisted development, or building software that interacts with the physical world, we still want to hear from you.
What you9ll get
Beyond the opportunity to work on technically challenging products with global reach, EARTHBRAIN offers:
Competitive compensation.
Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage.
Short- and long-term disability coverage.
Company-paid life insurance.
401(k) retirement plan.
Generous paid time off and sick leave.
Free lunch, snacks, and drinks in the office.
Professional development through workshops, jobsite experiences, global hackathons, and Udemy courses.
Opportunities to travel to Japan and collaborate directly with our Tokyo engineering organization, including participation in our Global Tech Meeting.
A flexible, inclusive, multicultural working environment.
Build something you can see in the real world.
A lot of software moves information around a screen.
Ours helps move earth, coordinate equipment, model entire jobsites, and ultimately change how construction gets done.
If you want your next engineering challenge to combine 3D visualization, geospatial technology, cloud systems, AI-assisted development, and real-world impact, we9d like to meet you.
