About the RoleAs a Software Development Engineer Intern, you will jump right into building real-world solutions and experience what it's like to be a developer at Workday. You'll work closely with a team of experienced engineers and product managers to grow your technical skills and contribute to projects that have a direct impact on our customers.
You'll be involved in various parts of the software development lifecycle - from designing and coding to testing and deploying. This is a unique opportunity to learn from industry experts and solve complex problems in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Collaborate with experienced engineers and product managers to design, develop, and deliver software solutions that directly impact Workday customers
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including designing, coding, testing, and deploying features
- Write clean, well-tested code and contribute to code reviews to maintain high-quality standards
- Learn and apply software development best practices, including source control management and documentation
- Contribute to team discussions by sharing ideas and asking thoughtful questions that help move projects forward

About YouBasic Qualifications:- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related degree program
- Less than 12 months of previous professional work experience
- Anticipated graduation date between December 2027 and June 2028
- Available for a full-time, in-person 6-month internship starting in February 2027 and ending August 2027 in the Vancouver office, and you will return to your university degree program after the conclusion of the internship
- Demonstrated knowledge of Data Structures and Algorithms
- Experience with at least two programming languages such as Java, Python, C++, Scala, JavaScript through coursework or personal projects
Other Qualifications:- A desire to grow and learn through constructive feedback and mentoring
- Strong problem solving and communication skills, with the ability to share ideas clearly and collaborate across teams
- Experience working in a team or a collaborative environment
- Prior internship experience
- Familiarity with AI tooling such as Gemini, Claude, Cursor, Codex, or similar tools
- Familiarity with additional technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, MySQL, Git, React, or other relevant tools

As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
