ABOUT THE TEAMThe Counter Intrusion MSE team develops systems that provide force protection capabilities, monitoring the perimeter of secure areas, land or sea, for approaching people, vehicles, and vessels. We live in a world where security officers are increasingly overwhelmed by sensor data feeds. Our products leverage advanced sensor fusion and autonomy to seamlessly render activity in the environment to Lattice's common operating picture. This relieves operators of our system from a ton of burden and allows our customers to get more done with fewer personnel. Increasingly Counter Intrusion MSEs are working on projects to bring customers' existing legacy security systems into the Lattice ecosystem. Key to this effort is building scalable software solutions so that we can service many customers without requiring bespoke software for each one. The Counter Intrusion team is responsible for the development, testing, deployment, and sustainment of our family of systems. We work closely with other teams from product, engineering, sales, logistics, operations, and mission success.
ABOUT THE JOBWe are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer to join our growing team in Irvine, CA. In this role, you will be responsible for developing tooling and infrastructure to manage Counter Intrusion's growing fleet of autonomous Sentry towers. Your work will have a direct impact on the reliability and uptime of deployed systems in harsh, remote locations. You'll detect problems early, diagnose them remotely, and turn repeat incidents into automation, runbooks, and fixes in the product. You'll partner with cross functional teams spanning customer support, field operations, software and hardware engineering, and quality and reliability.
WHAT YOU'LL DO- Build systems to monitor Sentry tower fleet health (dashboards, alerts, telemetry)
- Remotely diagnose issues across the stack: compute, software services, firmware, sensors and cameras, power controllers, and connectivity
- Run root-cause analysis on incidents
- Develop automations to cut manual toil, e.g. tooling to roll out config and software updates safely across the fleet
- Plan and run staged software, firmware, and configuration rollouts
- Review incident trends, find recurring failure modes and process gaps, and write or maintain runbooks and troubleshooting guides
- Give hardware and software teams feedback on system and subcomponent reliability
- Take part in on-call or escalation rotations for operational events
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS- 3+ years of experience in SRE, DevOps, systems engineering, or a similar role running production infrastructure
- Strong Linux skills: systemd, journald/log analysis, SSH-based remote debugging, and shell scripting
- Solid networking knowledge: TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP/ARP, firewalls, and troubleshooting connectivity issues
- Experience with observability tools (Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana, or similar)
- Proficiency in Python, Rust, or a similar language for automation and tooling
- Experience with incident response, root cause analysis, and writing clear postmortems and runbooks
- Comfort working across hardware and software boundaries
- Strong communication and the ability to coordinate with field technicians, engineers, and operations teams under time pressure
- Eligible to obtain and hold a U.S. Secret security clearance
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS- Experience managing fleets of embedded or edge devices (IoT, robotics, telecom, or defense systems)
- Experience with embedded compute platforms
- Familiarity with NixOS
- Knowledge of sensor systems (cameras, radar, GPS/GNSS) and of power systems (solar, batteries, generators, power controllers)
- Experience with RF and mesh radios, Starlink, or LTE backhaul
- Prior experience in defense, aerospace, or border and critical infrastructure security
