Full Job Description
Position Summary
The Point of Care - Ancillary Laboratory Services Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of point-of-care testing (POCT) and ancillary laboratory services across ECU Health Systems. This role ensures the delivery of high-quality laboratory services, compliance with regulatory standards, and the implementation of best practices in patient care.

As the POCT Laboratory Manager, you will:
  • Model ECU Healths core values, maintain professionalism, communicate effectively with patients and staff, and resolve issues or complaints
  • Oversee daily operations of point-of care testing (POCT) and ancillary laboratory services, ensuring timely and accurate results and developing standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP), conduct quality control checks, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate laboratory staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers, resolve laboratory service issues, and advocate for patient safety and quality care.
  • Oversee laboratory data integrity, utilize laboratory information systems, and ensure data security.
  • Serve as a technical resource, resolve technical problems, and develop or verify test procedures.
  • Work with leaders and medical directors on new or modified test procedures and protocol development.
  • Manage budgets, equipment, supplies, and vendor relationships efficiently.
  • Establish and review quality control programs, investigate issues, and provide education and corrective action.
  • Evaluate and maintain staff competency, identify training needs, and provide ongoing education.
  • Ensure safety guidelines are followed, educate staff on safety, and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned related to laboratory services.
Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, or Biologic Science
  • MLS/MT (ASCP, AMT, HEW, or equivalent) certification
  • Three or more years of related work experience in a clinical laboratory (hospital, medical clinic/practice, military medical service, or commercial reference laboratory)
  • At least two years of supervisory or management experience in laboratory services

Preferred:
  • Masters degree in Healthcare Administration or a related field
  • Certification in Point of Care Testing (POCT)
Pay Range
  • $87,817.60 - $128,002.16 (annually)
Other Information
  • 40 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday (8 am - 4:30 pm)
  • Required to work rotational weekends and holidays
  • On-Call required
