Job Requirements The Hospital-Based Float RN provides professional nursing care to patients across multiple inpatient and emergency care settings, including Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Emergency Department (ED), Medical-Surgical, and Telemetry units. This role is designed to support organizational staffing needs by delivering safe, high-quality, patient-centered care in a variety of clinical environments.
The Float RN demonstrates strong clinical judgment, adaptability, and the ability to quickly integrate into diverse patient care teams while maintaining excellence in patient outcomes, patient experience, and regulatory compliance.
Principal Responsibilities and Tasks- Provides care of unit-specific and/or hospital-based patient population; independently practices with solid knowledge and clinical skills; engaged in advancing own practice. Utilizes and integrates evidence into practice.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary team to plan and coordinate care addressing patient/family needs. Serves as clinical resource as needed.
- Supports leader and charge nurse decisions. Serves as an effective primary coordinating nurse as required.
- Models practice consistent with unit operations to ensure safe, timely effective, efficient, equitable, patient-centered care.
- Identifies possible risks in processes, procedures, devices and communicates the same to those in charge.
Minimum Qualifications1. Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland or eligible to practice due to Compact state agreements outlined through the MD Board of Nursing required.
2. Associate's degree required. BSN preferred.
3. Two (2) year previous RN experience required. (Recent experience in ICU, Emergency Department, Telemetry, and/or Medical-Surgical nursing preferred.)
4. American Heart Association (AHA) BLS required upon hire.
5. Must meet all unit-specific certification requirements (PALS, ACLS, NRP).

Additional InformationCompensation- Flat Rate: $45.00

- $4.75 weekdays
- $6.75 weekends
