Full Job Description
Primary Function of Position This position will be responsible for testing service features in the da Vinci Surgical System software and will play a technical role during the development of new Field Service software. This position will be required to write and execute test protocols for functional SW testing using da Vinci hardware. The successful candidate must have relevant technical experience and be detail oriented. Essential Job Duties • Protocol Development and Execution o Support the development of design requirements; participate in the creation/review of formal design documentation o Design, develop, and execute test protocols for verification and validation of field service software o Complete documentation for test protocols, results, and reports • Software Testing and Development o Run software evaluation labs to assess software features and diagnostic tools during the development phase o Keep detailed notes of testing activity to document user experience and feature performance o Provide feedback to development teams to guide feature design o Log issues found within the issue tracking system; work with software and cross- functional teams to debug o Learn the elements of the SW build process to effectively execute, monitor, and troubleshoot builds as necessary o Ability to work with complex hardware systems and understand the communication between hardware and software Qualifications Required Skills and Experience • Experience testing embedded software at unit, integration or system level is required • Strong Engineering/SQA/Software Test background • Interested in working in a fast-paced environment providing solutions throughout the entire product lifecycle • Hands-on engineering experience with a proven ability to work well in a team environment • Ability to communicate effectively (written and oral) • A real excitement to learn and get to the bottom of tough technical problems • Experience writing and understanding technical specifications • Strong intuition for, and interest in, designing software for testability • Must demonstrate proficiency in Windows O/S and in all Microsoft Office applications • Must possess strong attention-to-detail, individual initiative, sense of ownership, and organizational skills • Must be a self-starter and capable of working effectively with little supervision and be capable of identifying and driving individual projects Required Education and Training • Minimum BS required (EE or CS preferred) • Minimum 3 years of software testing experience Working Conditions None Preferred Skills and Experience • Experience with documentation control systems; prefer Agile/ACCS • Experience with requirement management software; prefer Polarion ALM • Experience debugging software and performing reviews of test automation and application code • Experience working in Linux operating system environment Additional Information Due to the nature of our business and the role, please note that Intuitive and/or your customer(s) may require that you show current proof of vaccination against certain diseases including COVID-19.
