Full Job Description
As a SeniorVDC Designer, Electrical Construction, you will:
  • Develop detailed electrical installation drawings in Revit from design documents, specifications, and sketches to achieve optimal construction outcomes.
  • Develop installation drawings for a wide range of electrical building systems such as power distribution, branch power and lighting, fire alarm, security, communications and other specialty systems.
  • Interact and collaborate with the project team to develop drawings efficiently and accurately while maintaining any time and schedule constraints.
  • Develop drawings showing the necessary details and assemblies of a wide variety of electrical equipment with details such as dimensions, fastening methods, slab coordinates and other required information.
  • Model and coordinate electrical infrastructure e.g. cable trays, sleeving, electrical equipment, etc. resolving all model clashes with other trades.
  • Navigate through and interpret structural, architectural, electrical and mechanical drawings for various occupancy types and spaces.
  • Perform technical calculations including but not limited to voltage drop, conduit fill.
  • Review design drawings and provide feedback to ensure requirements are met.
  • Understand and comply with the project schedule to submit deliverables and implement changes and revisions as required.
  • Attend BIM/VDC coordination meetings with internal teams and external trade partners, driving the resolution of multi-trade clashes and ensuring aligned project delivery.
  • Mentor and guide junior VDC team members, reviewing their work for quality and providing technical guidance on VDC best practices.
  • Interface with project leadership (Project Managers, Site Supervisors, Engineers) to integrate VDC deliverables into overall project planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate closely with mechanical, ICAT, and other trade VDC teams to achieve fully coordinated, clash-free designs and to drive consensus on design solutions across disciplines.

Our ideal candidate has:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent is preferable.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems from both the design and installation perspectives including: power distribution, branch power and lighting, fire safety, security and communications systems.
  • Advanced knowledge of Autodesk products including Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, Autodesk Forma platform.
  • An understanding of the uses of drawing levels, reference files, various CAD tools, scaling, dimensioning and cross-sectional interpolations
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple initiatives within a plan and strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills.
  • 3+ years of experience in electrical Virtual Design & Construction / BIM coordination, with proven experience on complex construction projects (from design through construction phases).
  • Experience with BIM-related programming or automation (e.g., Dynamo, Python) is a strong asset.
