Senior Traffic Engineer to join our
Atlanta. This role will be instrumental in growing our presence across Georgia and the Atlanta metropolitan area by connecting our clients' transportation challenges with innovative, practical, and reliable solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise in traffic engineering, strong leadership and client-development skills, and the ability to leverage GHD's multidisciplinary capabilities to deliver meaningful mobility improvements for urban and rural communities. GDOT experience is preferred, with current certifications in the PDP and LAP processes.
You will lead and support traffic engineering assignments for public- and private-sector clients, including traffic operations and safety analyses, multimodal planning, corridor and intersection studies, traffic signal and intelligent transportation systems, transportation design, and construction-phase support. Working closely with clients and multidisciplinary teams, you will develop solutions that respond to local needs, meet applicable standards, and support safe, efficient, and resilient transportation networks across Georgia.
Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in: - Traffic Engineering Solutions: Develop and deliver traffic engineering solutions for GDOT and Atlanta-area clients, including traffic operations and safety analyses, corridor and intersection studies, signal timing and design, ITS applications, and multimodal improvements. Prepare technical analyses, plans, specifications, and supporting documentation that address client needs and comply with GDOT standards, policies, and applicable local and federal requirements.
- Engineering Standards Specification: Contribute to the analysis of information, the drafting of engineering standards and specifications, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards within own engineering discipline to inform engineering work in the organization and/or of its suppliers, contractors, and consultants.
- Project Management: Deliver small- or medium-scale projects while working within an established program management plan.
- Contract Management: Deliver required outcomes by managing day-to-day relationships with contract service providers while working within an established contract management plan.
- Product and Solution Development: Define and deliver products and services that meet customer needs by selecting the best possible approaches available within established systems.
- Knowledge Management System: Work within established knowledge management systems to deliver preset outcomes for an area of responsibility.
- Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
- Improvement/Innovation: Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
- Client & Customer Management (External): Manage relationships with small clients while also helping senior colleagues manage relationships with larger key clients and customers.
Education- Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Equivalent degree
Experience- Minimum 10 years of related experience with technical knowledge and skills across the TE/ITS space.
- A senior position needs a PE or PTOE.
