Leveraging deep technical expertise across Oracle Database technologies (including RAC and Data Guard), SQL Server, IBM WebSphere, IBM TRIRIGA, and Unix/Windows environments, you will drive mission-critical database migrations, infrastructure capacity planning, single sign-on implementations, and high-performance system integrations. Location: Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite - 5 days/week required) Duration: 11-month contract Advantages Dual Architecture & DBA Scope: Drive both strategic infrastructure architecture and hands-on enterprise database administration. Large-Scale Platform Impact: Direct large-scale database migrations, high-volume BI systems (20TB+), and OS modernization initiatives. Collaborative Onsite Engagement: Partner closely with enterprise architects, database programmers, and operations teams in a dedicated workspace. Responsibilities Technical Architecture & Strategy: Lead the definition, recommendation, and implementation of technical architecture across distributed cross-platform environments, including operating systems, middleware, databases, and secure network communications. Database Administration & Migration: Provide comprehensive administration, performance tuning, and capacity planning for enterprise databases (Oracle 11g/12c/19c and SQL Server 2016), leading database migration and upgrade initiatives. High Availability & Disaster Recovery: Configure and maintain enterprise database resilience using Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, Flashback technology, and structured backup and recovery protocols. Middleware & Application Infrastructure: Architect, install, configure, upgrade, and maintain middleware platforms, specifically IBM WebSphere, IBM HTTP Server (IHS), and IBM TRIRIGA solutions. Data Integration & ETL Operations: Oversee data integration architecture and provide operational administration for Oracle Data Integrator (ODI), business intelligence platforms, and Hadoop environments. Platform & OS Management: Lead infrastructure planning, operating system upgrades, server commissioning, and sizing across Windows, Solaris, and Linux (RedHat) servers. Security & Identity Integration: Design and support enterprise identity and access solutions, including Single Sign-On (SSO) architectures, IAM modernizations, file-upload scanning infrastructure, and user access governance. Technical Documentation & Governance: Produce detailed architecture blueprints, Design Workbooks, build books, operating manuals, and participate in formal change request assessments and release management boards. Qualifications Technical Architecture & Database Seniority: 10+ years of dedicated experience developing and implementing technical architectures and administering large-scale database systems (Strictly Required). Oracle Database & High Availability: Over 10 years of hands-on experience with Oracle Database (including 19c), Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC), Data Guard, Flashback technology, backup/recovery, and performance tuning (Strictly Required). Operating Systems Expertise: 10+ years of hands-on administration experience across UNIX/Linux (Solaris, RedHat Linux) and Windows Server environments (Strictly Required). SQL Server Administration: Strong hands-on experience supporting Microsoft SQL Server (including SQL Server 2016) and SSRS implementations (Strictly Required). Middleware Architecture: Demonstrated experience in the architecture, installation, configuration, and upgrading of IBM TRIRIGA, IBM WebSphere, and IBM HTTP Server (IHS) (Strictly Required). Data Integration & ETL: Proven working experience with Oracle Data Integrator (ODI) installation, migration, and administration, along with system and data integration design (Strictly Required). Nice-to-Have Assets: Prior technical architecture or senior DBA experience within a public sector or equivalent large-scale enterprise environment. Experience with Hadoop installation and configuration on Linux environments. Familiarity with Single Sign-On (SSO) frameworks and Identity and Access Management (IAM) modernization initiatives (e.g., Microsoft Entra ID or Oracle IAM).
