Job Description

Senior Technical Program Manager
About the Team
Ricoh's Commercial Print Research & Development organization builds the Digital Front End (DFE) print server software for commercial inkjet presses. The DFE application layer ingests, processes, and renders customer print jobs into instructions for continuous forms print engines. This program spans globally distributed software teams working in Linux, C/C++, and Java and depends on coordinated hardware and software integration.
Role Overview
The Senior Technical Program Manager owns the integrated delivery plan for DFE application layer software, aligning engineering execution with product priorities, hardware readiness, integration testing, and release milestones. The role connects distributed engineering teams, Technical Product Management, Quality Assurance, Field Engineering, and hardware program leadership to identify dependencies early and drive timely decisions.

Technical Product Management owns product priorities and requirements; engineering leaders own technical solutions and team commitments. The program manager brings these plans together, makes delivery risks and trade-offs visible, and escalates scope, schedule, or resource decisions to the accountable leaders when teams cannot resolve them directly. The role also helps teams improve planning, coordination, and delivery practices across the DFE organization.
Key Responsibilities
  • Own the integrated program plan for DFE application layer delivery across global engineering teams, including milestones, dependencies, risks, and release readiness.
  • Coordinate software work with hardware device availability, joint hardware and software verification, integration test windows, and other external dependencies.
  • Partner with Technical Product Managers on roadmap-to-delivery planning and with Engineering Managers and Scrum Masters on team commitments, sequencing, and execution.
  • Run cross-team planning, dependency reviews, program reviews, and concise status reporting for engineering, product, hardware program leadership, and business stakeholders.
  • Identify technical, schedule, resourcing, and hardware readiness risks early; drive mitigation and escalate decisions with clear options and impacts.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance and Field Engineering on integration defects, validation progress, release criteria, and issue resolution.
  • Support effective Agile and Scrum practices across teams, including realistic planning, transparent progress, and continuous improvement, while respecting existing team roles.
  • Communicate program health, trade-offs, changes, and decisions clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
Required Qualifications Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience
  • 7+ years of technical project or program management experience, including delivery ownership across multiple engineering teams or a distributed organization.
  • Experience managing software delivery tied to hardware development, device readiness, integration, or validation milestones.
  • Experience coordinating dependencies, plans, and releases across multiple Agile software teams.
Technical Skills
  • Technical fluency sufficient to assess software delivery risks, engage in architecture and integration discussions, and communicate credibly with engineers. Prior hands-on software development experience is one way to demonstrate this fluency.
  • Working knowledge of hardware product development and joint hardware and software validation processes.
  • Proficiency with program planning and reporting tools such as Jira and Microsoft Office or equivalent tools.
  • Comfort using AI-assisted tools to synthesize technical updates, risks, and cross-team reporting, with appropriate review of the output.
Leadership Skills
  • Ability to align global teams without direct authority and manage time-zone and cross-functional coordination challenges.
  • Sound judgment in surfacing trade-offs, resolving ambiguity, and escalating decisions at the right time.
  • Clear written and verbal communication that turns technical dependencies into actionable status for varied audiences.
  • Ability to improve planning and execution practices through influence and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PMP, PgMP, CSM, or equivalent program management certification.
  • Experience in commercial or production print, continuous forms printing, or another hardware-integrated product environment.
  • Experience coordinating programs spanning software and hardware engineering organizations.
  • Experience working with Technical Product Managers to translate roadmaps into delivery plans.
  • Experience applying a scaled Agile framework such as SAFe, Scrum@Scale or where appropriate.
