Full Job Description
A career as a Senior Advisor - Investment Fund and ETF Taxation at National Bank means acting as a subject matter expert in a complex and constantly evolving field. You contribute to strategic initiatives that have a direct impact on our clients, partners, and the organization by guiding decision-making and ensuring the application of best practices in taxation, accounting, and securities.

The Investment Fund Administration sector at National Bank is responsible for calculating the net asset value (NAV) of investment funds, as well as preparing their financial statements and tax returns.

Leveraging your deep expertise in the investment fund industry, your influential leadership style, and your ability to solve complex issues, you will play a key role in evolving our practices and achieving our business objectives.

Your Role
  • Act as a trusted advisor to internal and external partners on tax, accounting, and regulatory matters related to investment funds.
  • Analyze complex situations and provide strategic recommendations to optimize outcomes for clients and the organization.
  • Provide functional leadership to the team by sharing knowledge, supporting skills development, and contributing to the evolution of best practices.
  • Coordinate activities related to distribution calculations and the preparation of investment fund tax returns while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously enhance a robust control framework to ensure the integrity of financial data and maintain high-quality standards.
  • Proactively monitor tax, accounting, and regulatory changes and recommend the necessary adaptations to processes and deliverables.
  • Lead or contribute to strategic and cross-functional projects by engaging stakeholders and ensuring the achievement of project objectives.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for continuous improvement, automation, and process optimization.

Your Team

Within the Fund Accounting sector, on the Taxation and Distribution team, you will be part of a group of 12 specialized professionals and report to the Senior Manager, Investment Fund Accounting. We are responsible for all tax-related activities for investment funds administered by National Bank. Working closely with various business partners, we ensure compliance with tax and regulatory requirements while contributing to the evolution of practices and the growth of the organization.

Prerequisites
  • Master's degree in Taxation (completed or in progress), or an equivalent combination of education and experience, with 7 to 10 years of relevant experience.
  • CPA designation.
  • Deep expertise in investment funds, trusts, and related tax matters.
  • Advanced knowledge of investment fund distributions.
  • Significant experience preparing trust and corporate tax returns.
  • Strong knowledge of tax, accounting, and regulatory standards applicable to investment funds.
  • Proven experience in coaching, mentoring, and talent development.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions and engage a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience coordinating or contributing to large-scale and transformation projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong data analysis skills.
  • Excellent ability to manage priorities and thrive in a complex, fast-changing environment.
