Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supervising a team of Quality technicians and inspectors for a program, commodity or quality system process
  • Promote innovate use of quality tools, championing proactive quality improvement techniques in lieu of traditional inspection activities
  • Manage budget, cost and schedule input for quality assignments
  • Manage quality inspection and test functions to ensure that proposed and existing products and processes are reviewed for the purpose of avoiding or eliminating unnecessary quality issues; develop recommendations for improvements that increase product uniformity and reliability and improves quality characteristics to reduce field failures and issues
  • Ensure that products are inspected and tested as required prior to shipment
  • Develop and initiate methods and procedures for inspection, testing and evaluation
  • Establish quality control programs to evaluate precision and accuracy of production and processing equipment and testing, measurement, and analytical facilities
  • Review data submitted to ensure compliance with program requirements
  • Develop and implement methods and procedures for quality control procedures and devise methods to assess cost and responsibility of discrepant material
  • Direct quality control workers engaged in measuring and testing products and tabulating quality and reliability data
  • Provide technical and operational support and/or services to ensure quality control standards are met in providing support to various project tasks
  • Develop reports and papers on the progress and status of assigned projects
  • Develop corrective actions to support task problems and failures
  • Prepare quality control reports, requirements, etc, in response to request for proposals, quotes, brochures, manuals, etc.
  • Review quality control program plans and inspection plans submitted for approval
  • Plan, organize and direct quality assurance audits for assigned customer projects
  • Determine quality control methodology and techniques used in inspecting and testing assigned contractor systems and/or equipment
  • Plan, promote, and organize training activities related to product quality and reliability and inspection
  • Work with Facility/Manufacturing Managers in establishing quality plans, procedures, and implementation on the manufacturing floor
  • Develop short- and long-range plans to improve the effectiveness of systems and processes while ensuring compliance with customer and internal quality standards, and to identify and resolve systematic and incidental quality problems
  • Develop and implement a systematic and effective process to investigate and resolve customer concerns and issues, and to ensure mutually beneficial and collaborative actions to maintain product quality
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
  • Attend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetings
  • Supervise teams of technicians and inspectors
  • Participate in special projects and performs other related work as assigned
  • Participate on teams for new product development as directed
  • Maintain knowledge of current trends and developments in the field of quality and process improvement
  • May serve as liaison with customers on items of product quality or reliability
  • Visit customers and suppliers when necessary to confer on specific quality issues
