About the RoleMuon seeks a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Software Test infrastructure team. This team builds and maintains specialized testing and reporting tools to support our Software Engineering teams, and they provide collaborative, hands-on testing expertise in domains as diverse as high-performance cloud-based services, data analysis, embedded firmware, and both Simulation and Hardware-based flight-software testing.
In this role, you will grow the people, processes, and technical capabilities necessary to keep Muon moving fast while delivering tough, proven software that works. You will collaborate closely with the team's architect and other engineering leaders, as well as customers, to anticipate testing needs and build world-class testing capabilities. And you'll make a unique, multi-discipline impact across a fast-growing organization.
This position is hybrid and requires working on-site in our San Jose, CA office three days per week.
Responsibilities- Lead, mentor, and develop software engineers who build critical testing infrastructure and embed across the software department
- Work with a variety of partners to synthesize a far-reaching team roadmap aligned with Muon's priorities
- Guide the execution of critical projects to deliver the best possible tested outcomes on the ground and in space
- Develop and track important quality and performance metrics to drive improvement across the department
- Collaborate with your leadership colleagues to architect organizational process that'll serve for years to come
- Manage team capacity, staffing, and growth, including hiring, coaching, and performance development
- Be a voice of responsible and compassionate leadership in a fast-growing, dynamic workplace
Qualifications- BS/MS or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field
- 5+ years of software engineering experience and 3+ years of experience managing software engineering teams building production systems
- Demonstrated experience managing effective testing teams and testing programs
- Proven track record managing teams building and maintaining reliable software tools
- Extensive experience with software project resource estimation and scheduling
- Accomplished history of hiring, training, and promoting software engineers
- Significant experience developing in languages such as C++, Python, or TypeScript
- Strong communication skills, and comfort working with cross-functional stakeholders
Nice-to-Have Skills- Familiarity with statistical analysis methods
- Familiarity with failure analysis methods
- Experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop software testing
- Experience with Software-in-the-Loop simulation testing
- Knowledge of manufacturing test automation and assembly process automation
- Experience building interactive reporting tools
- Familiarity with space industry technology, terminology, and practices
SalaryThe salary range for this role is $241,000 - $266,000, plus a competitive equity grant and comprehensive benefits package. Final compensation will be determined based on skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location as assessed during the interview process.
