Job Description
Senior Software Engineer - positions offered by Ford Motor Company (Long Beach, California). Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned worksite. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance from the worksite. Coordinate software development efforts to ensure alignment with defined requirements and seamless integration with other system components (EVSE, Inverter etc.). Design, development, and testing embedded software components for adhering to coding standards and industry best practices such as MISRA C and V-cycle development. Develop software for safety critical components, including battery protections. Enforce quality by helping define test cases with test team by providing detailed requirements and supporting documentation when needed. Contribute to algorithms and controls development for power electronics modules, including DCDC converter and On-board charger. Verify the performance and reliability of the algorithms by testing power converter on high voltage test benches. Extract and document detailed component-level requirements for battery management systems and power electronics, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams (hardware, firmware, systems engineering) to ensure alignment with overall vehicle objectives. Actively participated in review processes for firmware, hardware, system, and functional safety teams. Collaborate with mechanical, hardware and system team for seamless integration of hardware and software components. Developed and optimized calibration parameters to enhance safety, improve performance, and deliver exceptional user experiences. Participate in functional safety and failure avoidance analysis of complex electrical and software vehicle subsystems (HARA, FMEAs, etc.).
Qualifications
You'll have...
Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering or a related field and 6 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or a related occupation. 6 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Implement embedded C software within RTOS and bare-metal environments. 2. Develop and optimize low-level peripheral drivers for ARM Cortex processor architecture. 3. Perform hardware circuit analysis and troubleshooting with oscilloscope, multimeter, logic analyzer to evaluate embedded software performance. 4. Integrate high-voltage components in an EV to enable system level power conversion features, such as HV to LV conversion needed to power vehicle electronics. 4 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Implement driver and vehicle communication protocol including CAN, CAN-FD, SPI, I2C, UART, LIN, and UDS. 2. Develop software in accordance with MISRA C and ISO 26262 functional safety requirements for ASIL B or higher. 3. Implement battery management algorithms including state-of-charge (SOC), state of health (SOH), state of energy (SOE), and state of temperature (SOT). 2 years of experience with each of the following skills is required: 1. Develop firmware and real-time controls algorithms for power converters, including DCDC converters operating at high switching frequencies (100 kHz and higher). 2. Assess software behavior and controls algorithm performance using Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) platforms such as Typhoon, dSPACE or OPAL-RT.
We are offering a salary of $189,051.00 - $207,288.84/yr.
