Location: Toronto, ON (Fully Onsite - 5 days/week required) Duration: 11-month contract. Advantages Senior Architecture Scope: Lead full-stack engineering across microservices, REST APIs, and enterprise data layers. Robust Tech Stack: Hands-on development utilizing Java, Azure DevOps, OAuth 2.0, JWT, and SQL tuning. High-Impact Integration: Build reusable platform services that streamline core business workflows and identity integrations. Dedicated Onsite Collaboration: Partner directly with architects, UX designers, and technical leads in a focused Toronto workspace. Responsibilities Full-Stack Application Development: Design, write, compile, debug, test, and maintain enterprise application code across the front-end, backend, API, workflow, and data-access layers using Java and modern web frameworks. Microservices & API Architecture: Build and maintain scalable Java-based microservices, REST APIs, and web services applying clean code practices, object-oriented principles, and modern design patterns. Database & Query Optimization: Develop and manage database objects, data transformation pipelines, and complex SQL/PL-SQL queries across relational and hierarchical databases, ensuring optimal performance through SQL tuning. Security & Identity Integration: Implement secure communication protocols, security gateways, identity integrations, SSL certificates, JSON Web Tokens (JWT), and OAuth 2.0 authorization frameworks. Pipeline Automation & DevOps: Utilize Azure DevOps or equivalent build tools to maintain source control, configure deployment scripts, and manage continuous integration and automated deployment pipelines. Automated Testing & Quality Assurance: Construct and execute automated unit, integration, API, database, and user interface test suites to maintain application reliability and test coverage. Technical Guidance & Production Support: Conduct code reviews, participate in design walkthroughs, troubleshoot complex operational defects, perform data migrations, and author technical build documentation. Qualifications Senior Full-Stack Experience: 10+ years of experience designing and developing large-scale, multi-client web applications or an equivalent depth of senior development experience (Strictly Required). Core Java & Relational Databases: Extensive hands-on Java development experience working with Oracle, SQL Server, or comparable relational databases (Strictly Required). REST APIs & Microservices: Significant experience designing and developing REST APIs, RESTful web services, and microservice architectures (Strictly Required). Security Protocols & Gateways: Proven experience with security gateways and protocols, including JSON Web Tokens (JWT), OAuth 2.0, SSL certificates, secure communications, and identity integration (Strictly Required). Database Tuning & Integration: Demonstrated experience with query languages, SQL tuning, middleware, communications protocols, system conversion, and data migration (Strictly Required). Nice-to-Have Assets: Prior software development experience within a public sector environment. Hands-on experience managing CI/CD pipelines, work tracking, and build automation in Azure DevOps. Strong background in rapid application development (RAD) and Agile delivery methodologies.
