  • Specification and Report Writing: Prepare technical specifications, feasibility reports, and other technical documents for transportation and municipal projects.
  • Modeling and Drafting Support: Direct and oversee the use of CADD platforms (MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, or AutoCAD Civil 3D) to efficiently produce high-quality design models and construction documents.
  • Mentorship and Staff Development: Coach and mentor Graduate Engineers, Design Support staff, and junior Lead Designers to build technical skills, project understanding, and a culture of quality and collaboration.
  • Design Coordination: Collaborate with Project Managers to ensure that project design components align with scope, schedule, and budget requirements. Coordinate with other functional design groups (Traffic, Water Resources, Survey, etc.) to ensure design work is integrated throughout the project.
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC): Provide thorough technical reviews at key design milestones, addressing geometric design, drainage systems, utility design, and plan constructability.
  • Technical Resource: Serve as an internal expert on municipal, urban, and county design practices, State Aid standards, MnDOT coordination, and best practices for City/County roadway reconstruction projects.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering (or related engineering field)

  • 7+ years transportation design experience producing layouts, plans, specs, and estimates
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and transportation design software (MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D).
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with an emphasis on mentoring and client service
