5-7 years of Product Management or Product Ownership experience in mortgage lending technology

Lead Product Manager, Mortgage Operations Technology
Soni Resources is seeking a Lead Product Manager, Mortgage Operations Technology to lead the product area supporting the mortgage manufacturing lifecycle, including processing, underwriting, closing, and funding.
This role will focus on modernizing and automating the operational workflows required to move a mortgage from application through approval and funding. The goal is to bring fragmented operational processes into a more unified technology experience, reduce manual work, and enable faster, increasingly digital underwriting and decisioning.
This is not a traditional requirements-focused Product Manager position. The ideal candidate combines deep firsthand knowledge of mortgage operations with strong technical fluency and hands-on product execution. They should understand how mortgage loans actually move through manufacturing and be capable of turning that knowledge into workflows, prototypes, product decisions, and clear direction for Engineering.
What You'll Own
Lead the product strategy and execution for technology supporting mortgage processing, underwriting, closing, and funding
Identify manual or fragmented operational workflows that can be simplified, digitized, or automated
Apply deep mortgage-domain knowledge to areas such as income calculation and verification, underwriting workflows and conditions, title and closing readiness, and funding
Translate operational problems directly into product solutions without depending exclusively on business stakeholders to define the workflow
Work closely with Engineering to define product behavior, prioritize development, resolve tradeoffs, and move solutions into production
Create and test workflows, mockups, or functional prototypes to make product concepts tangible before or during development
Use modern development and AI-assisted tooling to explore product ideas, work with existing codebases, test concepts, and accelerate product discovery
Lead initiatives from discovery and prototyping through delivery and optimization
Take ownership of an active product area and move quickly with limited ramp-up or oversight
What We're Looking For
Significant Product Management or Product Ownership experience within mortgage lending technology
Deep hands-on understanding of mortgage manufacturing/operations, particularly processing, underwriting, closing, and funding
Experience working within or directly alongside a mortgage lender's operating environment
Strong understanding of LOS platforms and the systems, integrations, data, and workflows surrounding mortgage origination
Ability to identify where operational work can be automated and translate that opportunity into a viable product solution
Strong enough technical fluency to work confidently with engineers and participate meaningfully in architecture, API, integration, workflow, and implementation discussions
Comfortable experimenting with AI-assisted development tools, repositories, APIs, prototypes, or lightweight code
Ability to independently take a product concept from idea through prototype, development, and production
Strong product judgment and the ability to challenge Engineering appropriately when technology decisions affect the business workflow
Nice to Have
Blue Sage LOS experience
Experience modernizing or consolidating mortgage manufacturing workflows
Experience with AI-enabled mortgage automation or digital underwriting
Familiarity with APIs, REST/JSON, Postman, SQL, Git/GitHub, or similar development tooling
