The Role

We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to join our in-house design team. You will report to the Head of Product and operate at the intersection of UX, UI, and strategic product thinking, you'll partner closely with engineering and product management to deliver solutions that balance empathy with operational efficiency.

As a senior member of the team, you will not just execute on design. You will shape our product strategy, define our design architecture, and raise the bar for our entire design culture.

This is a full-time hybrid opportunity based in San Francisco, CA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead End-to-End Design: Own complex product initiatives from early problem framing, discovery, and user journey mapping through to high-fidelity prototyping and production delivery.
  • Drive Strategic Impact: Collaborate seamlessly with product managers, engineers, and company leadership to shape the product roadmap, translate business goals into design solutions, and define product success metrics.
  • Champion the User: Independently plan and conduct user research with family caregivers. Synthesize qualitative feedback and behavioral data to inform design decisions, prioritizing opportunities that solve real pain points.
  • Build & Scale Systems: Establish, maintain, and evolve Abby Care's design systems and component libraries to ensure consistency, accessibility, and development speed across all platforms.
  • Cross-Functional Execution: Prepare clear design specifications, account for edge cases, and work closely with engineers to ensure feasible, high-quality implementation of your designs.
  • Elevate the Team: Provide thoughtful design critique, mentor junior and mid-level designers, and continuously optimize the design team's workflows and standards.
  • Innovate with AI: Design adaptive, AI-driven digital experiences that simplify the heavy administrative and emotional burden on caregivers, translating ambiguity into clear experience direction.

What success looks like
  • Build a durable design system and clear information architecture that empowers our product and engineering teams to build complex workflows quickly and correctly.
  • Delivered highly intuitive, cross-platform solutions that seamlessly support the distinct mental models and needs of family caregivers, clinicians, and operators within a single coherent platform.
  • Cross-functionally launch human-in-the-loop, AI-assisted features that safely augment users while navigating strict healthcare regulations.

The Requirements
  • Experience: 5+ years of progressive product design experience, with a proven track record of shipping impactful digital products (experience in healthcare, health-tech, or complex multi-sided platforms is a strong plus).
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional UX and visual UI craft, complex problem-solving, and a clear narrative of your end-to-end design process.
  • Systems Thinking: Demonstrated experience building or significantly contributing to scalable enterprise-grade design systems.
  • Data-Informed Approach: Deep experience utilizing user research, usability testing, product analytics, and experimentation to guide iterative design and justify design trade-offs.
  • Technical Literacy: A strong understanding of technical constraints, system architecture, and front-end feasibility to collaborate effectively with engineering partners.
  • Exceptional Communication: Superb storytelling and facilitation skills. You can confidently articulate design rationale to non-design stakeholders, run cross-functional workshops, and push back effectively when needed.
  • Mission-Driven Empathy: A deep sense of empathy for users and a genuine passion for our mission to empower family caregivers.

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation packages that reflect the value you bring. We reward our team for the impact of their work.
  • Comprehensive health coverage that works for you. Choose from high-quality medical dental and vision options, including a $0 deductible PPO and a company-funded HSA, alongside employer-paid life and disability insurance.
  • Generous paid time off. We provide policies that allow you to recharge along with 10 paid company holidays.
  • Financial savings benefits to support your future. We support your financial well-being with HSA contributions, optional FSA and commuter benefits, and full coverage of all 401(k) account fees (employer match not currently offered).
  • Paid parental leave to support your growing family. We provide up to 10 weeks of paid parental leave based on tenure, so you can focus on bonding and adjusting to life as your family grows.
