Position Summary

This NGL Commercial Scheduling position is responsible for mitigating inventory management, coordinating and optimizing commercial value by scheduling NGLs in/out of refineries, in/out of proprietary and 3rd party facilities/storage. Movements are coordinated to mitigate refinery demands and reconciled against commercial contracts as designated by marketers/traders, and refinery demand. The successful candidate will be assigned primarily to the USGC region but may also interact with other enterprise assets/facilities. Modes of distribution used to execute the scheduling plan include but are not limited to truck, rail, pipeline and waterborne activity. Growth in the scheduling capacity may include frac activity and planning. The candidate will have direct interaction with a wide array of organizations within the organization, and will conduct business with pipelines, facility personnel, trading companies and other external partners. The applicant should be organized, self-motivated, team oriented, and possess an entrepreneurial mindset.

Key Responsibilities

  • Nominates and schedules pipeline, waterborne, truck, rail and/or delivery movements through use of propriety and third-party scheduling systems. Monitors inventories and shipping schedules daily to ensure that supply meets demand.
  • Communicates and verifies planned movements with all stakeholders, including but not limited to traders, optimizers, internal and external counterparties, customers, suppliers, producers, marketers, terminals, vessels, and pipelines.
  • Provides forward-looking inventory position information to Trading, Pricing, Marketing, Trucking and Supervision to develop inventory strategies.
  • Responds to unexpected events making contingency arrangements to minimize disruption of supply.
  • Provides comprehensive guidance on issues related to movements on their desk and others. Proactively identifies constraints and possible opportunities to optimize existing plans and mitigate upsets.
  • Identifies transportation efficiencies while minimizing per barrel transportation costs. Understands the regional supply picture.
  • Manages multiple complex desks. Assists in initial training of new hires. Trains and mentors less experienced schedulers.
  • Monitor refinery and/or frac production plans and anticipate operations scope that will mitigate inventory levels and fulfill operational and commercial requirements to meet obligations.
  • Prepare daily status reports to communicate supply concerns to Trading/Marketing, refinery and/or frac operations personnel, customers and other vested parties
  • Works closely with trader to ensure alignment on strategies that help mitigate any variance in refinery plan versus customer commitment and any constraints caused by unplanned events, and changes in market fundamentals. Works with internal and external partners to accommodate such changes
  • Identify ways to streamline processes as well as to mitigate mutual goals within the bench that allows profitability for the overall NGL team, while also accomplishing daily task and duties
  • Facilitates and helps execute plans cross functionally, including (but not limited to) Pipeline, Facility/Terminal, Transport Operations, Marketing/Trading key stakeholders on issues that would impact supply to a given destination.
  • Communicate and coordinate closely with internal counterparts on current plan, as well as deviations (planned and unplanned)
  • Problem solving, critical thinking skills, personal resilience is a must
  • The above responsibilities notwithstanding, the final scope of the role will be determined by the experience level of the candidate selected.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required or five (5) years of related experience in lieu.
  • Four (4) or more years of industry-related experience required.
  • Two (2) or more years of NGLs experience preferred.
