Role SummaryAs a Senior Member of Technical Staff, you will architect and implement GPU drivers for Intel Iris Xe and ARM Mali GPUs on the VxWorks operating system. This is a unique opportunity to develop GPU drivers from the ground up for safety-critical embedded and edge applications, including Aerospace & Defense. You will collaborate directly with GPU and SoC vendors such as Intel, ARM, and NXP to translate hardware specifications into efficient VxWorks implementations. The role requires a strong focus on minimal-footprint architecture, graphics performance, and solutions designed to support safety certification requirements.
Your Role- Design and implement minimal-footprint GPU drivers for the VxWorks operating system.
- Port and adapt Linux GPU drivers to VxWorks, reducing dependencies on DRM and Atomic frameworks to support safety certification.
- Collaborate with ARM DDK and SoC vendors such as NXP, Telelogic, and Vivante to integrate GPU solutions into VxWorks.
- Serve as the primary technical focal point for GPU driver architecture and development on VxWorks.
- Design and implement graphics capabilities based on product and customer requirements.
- Adapt and integrate open-source components to support Vulkan SC APIs on VxWorks.
- Partner with display driver and user-space graphics teams supporting Vulkan and OpenGL integration.
- Provide technical leadership through architecture, detailed design, and code reviews.
Your Background- 10+ years of software development experience using C and C++.
- 3-5+ years of hands-on GPU driver development experience, including technologies such as Intel i915, Iris Xe, or ARM Mali.
- Strong knowledge of GPU architectures, device drivers, and hardware/software interaction.
- Experience developing GPU or graphics drivers for Linux, RTOS, or embedded platforms.
- Knowledge of Vulkan, Vulkan SC, OpenGL, DRM/KMS, Linux kernel internals, or related graphics technologies.
- Experience working in cross-functional, geographically distributed engineering organizations.
- Experience with safety-critical software standards such as DO-178C or ISO 26262 is preferred; contributions to open-source graphics, kernel, or embedded projects are a plus.
Your Benefits at Aptiv- Hybrid work model for workplace flexibility.
- Comprehensive health, dental, and life insurance.
- Short- and long-term disability coverage.
- RRSP matching to support financial security.
- Flexible time-off policies supporting work-life balance.
