Your Opportunity

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help lead exciting and complex projects to join our DC office.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents
  • Design mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation and controls
  • Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings and prepare green rating system documentation
  • Assist in spatial coordination with architecture and other engineering systems
  • Deliver projects across multiple delivery models, including design/bid/build, design assist, design build
  • Process contractor submittals, RFIs
  • Perform on site condition surveys
  • Produce quality work
  • Provide mentoring and direction to junior members of the project team or engineering discipline
  • Use technology and methodologies to create innovative approaches to building design
  • Consistently strive to improve technical quality of work product by keeping abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry
  • Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and insure integrated design approaches & solutions
  • Assist in the procurement of high-quality work; including marketing / proposal efforts and project interviews
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to Government, Healthcare, Higher Education and Science & Technology
  • Maintain strong client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business
  • Perform and maintain thorough QA/QC on all phases of projects
  • Participates in recruiting efforts across the firm

Your Capabilities and Credentials
  • LEED AP BD+C preferred
  • Evidence of public recognition of expertise preferred (e.g. articles, conference papers, ASHRAE committee membership, or speaking engagements)
  • Familiarity with BIM
  • Maintain technical competence by staying current on appropriate codes and technologies
  • Proficient in the use of state-of-the-art tools for engineering design and documentation, including Revit
  • Thorough understanding of the engineering systems within a specific discipline
  • Thorough understanding of advanced engineering principles and calculations
  • General understanding of engineering principles and systems within other disciplines
  • Monitors & manages project budgets to ensure cost effective delivery
  • Expertise in area of concentration
  • Effective communication skills (written and oral).
  • Demonstrated thoroughness in design coordination and contract document development in area of concentration
  • Demonstrated record of consistent quality work
  • Able to work with little or no supervision
  • Ability to lead others and foster teamwork
  • Business development capabilities, commercial/financial awareness
  • Project management and supervisor experience preferred
  • Demonstrated knowledge in sustainable building design

Education and Experience
  • Professional Degree in Engineering required from an accredited four-year university
  • P.E. License required
  • 15+ years of experience

Pay Range:
• Locations in WA, DC & Various CA, MA areas-$126,400.00 - $189,600.00 Annually

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
