Title:

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

KBR is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with strong CAD proficiency and leadership experience to join our growing team of engineers supporting cutting-edge defense programs. The successful candidate will lead mechanical design efforts and collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to develop commercial systems and components.

Work Environment:

  • Location: On-site R&D Lab, (*No Telework/hybrid arrangements available)

  • Travel Requirements: 5-10%

  • Working Hours: Standard

Basic Compensation:

$150,000 - $190,000 USD annually

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidates knowledge, skills, abilities and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical design efforts from concept through final production.

  • Research, design, and evaluate mechanical products and systems to meet operational and performance requirements.

  • Apply knowledge of engineering principles to develop structural components.

  • Solve technical design problems and perform system-level design analyses.

  • Develop mechanical and structural layouts using CAD tools.

  • Conduct feasibility and performance testing on components and systems.

  • Participate in design reviews and support production and integration activities.

  • Work closely with a small team to execute fast paced, short timeline projects, both individually and as a team.

Required Qualifications:

  • Active/Current DoD Secret clearance required

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field.

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience performing mechanical design on complex systems.

  • Experience leading design efforts and mentoring junior engineers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in electronics packaging, including thermal and structural considerations.

  • Familiarity with Space Flight hardware.

  • Strong understanding of the full engineering lifecycle from concept to production.

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Experience with Solidworks CAD/CAM tools in 3D modeling

  • Experience in developing 3D models and drawings for fabrication and machining

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
