Job Summary:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for leading the development, optimization, and continuous improvement of manufacturing processes, equipment, and systems. This role serves as a technical leader within the organization, driving initiatives that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance while supporting business growth objectives.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on engineering leader with extensive manufacturing experience, strong project management capabilities, and a proven track record of implementing sustainable process improvements in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve productivity, yield, quality, and overall operational performance.
  • Analyze manufacturing processes and identify opportunities to eliminate waste, reduce downtime, and improve throughput.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to support decision-making and operational improvements.
  • Support new manufacturing process development.
  • Evaluate manufacturing readiness and capacity requirements.
  • Ensure adherence to all environmental, health, and safety standards
Technical Leadership
  • Provide technical leadership and engineering support to manufacturing operations.
  • Mentor and develop site leadership and production personnel.
  • Lead root-cause investigations and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop engineering standards, best practices, and process documentation.

Project Management
  • Lead capital and equipment improvement projects from concept through implementation.
  • Develop project scopes, budgets, schedules, and ROI analyses.
  • Coordinate equipment purchases, installation, commissioning, and validation activities.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, contractors, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Extensive travel will be required.

  • Ability to work within labor intensive production environments
  • Prefer someone with experience in industries such as product recycling, waste processing, mining or other industries involved with heavy duty equipment
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to use computer software to support them
  • Possess an entrepreneurial spirit and continuously innovate to achieve great results
  • Experience with conveyance, automation, robotics, PLCs, and Industry 4.0 technologies.
  • Knowledge of CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar platforms.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related technical field preferred or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
  • 10+ years of operations and engineering experience in manufacturing environment
  • Extensive experience with process improvement tools and technologies required
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with heavy duty processing equipment and conveyance
  • Significant experience in labor intensive production environments
  • Experience with material flow/sizing (waste processing, mining production) preferred
