Full Job Description
The Treasury & Portfolio Services (TPS) team is a specialized oversight and advisory function within Fund Administration that supports a diverse range of investment products through technical accounting expertise, operational governance, custody oversight, and analytical problem solving. The team serves as a critical partner to the business, helping navigate complex accounting matters, fund launches, mergers and reorganizations, operational challenges, regulatory requirements, and strategic initiatives.

TPS provides accounting, custody, and operational oversight across multiple fund platforms and product lines. Responsibilities include oversight of fund accounting and NAV production, fund distributions, custody activities, cash management, fund events, technical accounting matters, accounting policy development, and resolution of complex accounting and operational issues.

The TPS Manager is responsible for leading a team of professionals while serving as a key resource for complex accounting analysis, operational oversight, and business problem solving. This role combines expertise in U.S. GAAP and investment operations with the ability to evaluate complex situations, develop practical solutions, and drive business outcomes.

The role requires a highly analytical mindset and an ability to apply technical accounting knowledge, operational expertise, and sound judgment to evaluate complex situations, solve business challenges, and support the successful execution of strategic initiatives.

This position offers significant opportunity for professional growth and leadership development. The successful candidate will be expected to build broad expertise across Treasury & Portfolio Services while assuming increasing responsibility for strategic initiatives, complex oversight activities, and organizational leadership. The role is designed for individuals who aspire to broaden their business impact, lead high-performing teams, and prepare for future leadership opportunities and increasing levels of responsibility within Fund Administration.

While operational oversight remains a core component of the role, TPS operates well beyond traditional operations. The successful candidate will apply analytical thinking, technical accounting expertise, and industry knowledge to support strategic initiatives, evaluate complex transactions, resolve accounting and operational issues, and provide oversight of critical service provider relationships.

The role provides broad exposure to senior leadership and cross-functional business partners through participation in fund events, complex investment initiatives, custodian and service provider governance, accounting policy matters, operational risk management activities, and enterprise-wide transformation efforts. Successful candidates will have the opportunity to influence key business decisions, lead high-impact initiatives, and help shape the future direction of the Treasury & Portfolio Services organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

Technical Accounting, Custody Oversight & Analytical Leadership
  • Lead the analysis and resolution of complex accounting, custody, and operational issues.
  • Evaluate transactions, investment structures, and business initiatives to ensure appropriate application of U.S. GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal accounting policies.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on fund accounting, custody oversight, fund distributions, fund events, liquidity facilities, and complex investment products.
  • Research technical accounting matters and provide recommendations to management and key stakeholders.
  • Analyze significant NAV fluctuations, accounting exceptions, and unusual portfolio activity to identify underlying drivers and operational impacts.
  • Lead investigations related to NAV errors, accounting discrepancies, and operational incidents, including root cause analysis, remediation planning, and implementation of preventative controls.
  • Provide accounting and operational guidance related to complex transactions, fund events, and emerging business initiatives.

Oversight & Governance
  • Lead the oversight of key accounting and custody functions and the overall operational service delivery across multiple fund platforms.
  • Provide oversight of third-party service providers responsible for fund accounting, custody services, and related operational support functions.
  • Maintain leadership responsibility for key custodian relationships and serve as an escalation point for complex accounting, operational, and service-related matters.
  • Review and challenge service provider processes, controls, and deliverables to ensure accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to agreed service standards.
  • Monitor operational risk and identify opportunities to strengthen controls, improve processes, and enhance overall service delivery.

Strategic Initiatives & Business Enablement
  • Lead and support large-scale projects and cross-functional initiatives designed to support business growth, product innovation, and operational excellence.
  • Play a leadership role in fund launches, mergers, reorganizations, liquidations, conversions, and other significant fund events.
  • Assess accounting, operational, and custody impacts associated with new products and business initiatives.
  • Partner with Investments, Product, Legal, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and external service providers to develop practical solutions to complex business challenges.
  • Drive initiatives that improve scalability, reduce operational risk, enhance controls, and strengthen the overall operating model.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of accounting policies, operational frameworks, and governance practices supporting evolving business needs.
  • Prepare and present analysis, recommendations, and support materials for senior leadership, governance committees, and other key stakeholders.

Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead and develop a team of Treasury & Portfolio Services professionals, including supervisors, senior analysts, and analysts, while building organizational capability and strengthening technical expertise across the team.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and development opportunities designed to enhance both technical proficiency and leadership effectiveness.
  • Build organizational bench strength through succession planning, talent development, and the creation of growth opportunities for team members.
  • Delegate responsibilities and create developmental opportunities that prepare team members for broader leadership roles and increased organizational responsibility.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, innovation, and analytical problem solving.
  • Serve as a key escalation point and trusted advisor for complex accounting, custody, and operational matters.
  • Partner with TPS and senior leadership to establish priorities, execute strategic initiatives, and continuously enhance the team's oversight and governance framework.
  • Represent TPS in governance forums and internal committees, including the Complex Securities Committee, Dividend Committee, Risk & Investment Operations Committee, and other strategic working groups.
  • Influence business decisions through sound judgment, technical expertise, and well-supported recommendations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience leading large-scale projects and business transformation initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, independently solve problems, and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities across operational, accounting, and strategic initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Microsoft Excel), with proven ability to leverage newly developed technology tools.
