Job Description:Your MissionAs the Senior Manager, Social Media, Overwatch at Blizzard, you will help lead the strategy and day-to-day direction of the franchise's global social ecosystem. In this role, you will report to the Director, Social & Content, Overwatch and translate Overwatch's live-service roadmap, seasonal campaigns, product priorities, and major cultural moments into social strategies that deepen player connection, drive conversation, and build sustained engagement across platforms. You will serve as a senior strategic partner to Brand Marketing, Product Marketing, the Development Team, Esports, regional teams, and external agency partners, making sure Social has an early and meaningful voice throughout campaign planning and execution. You will set operational objectives and work plans for Overwatch social, manage the budget and schedules for your area, and develop the team that brings the work to life. This is a highly cross-functional, hands-on leadership role.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:
- Lead the development and execution of Overwatch's global social strategy across YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X, Facebook, Twitch, and emerging platforms
- Establish operational objectives, work plans, schedules, and performance measures for Overwatch social, delegating assignments and ensuring the team delivers against them
- Manage the social budget for your area of responsibility, and partner with senior leadership on annual operating budget planning and the broader strategic planning process
- Translate seasonal roadmaps, game updates, collaborations, esports moments, and major franchise initiatives into cohesive social plans, and lead social planning for key launches and tentpole moments, including objectives, audience priorities, channel roles, creative opportunities, and measures of success
- Represent Social in cross-functional go-to-market planning and provide input to strategic decisions that affect the franchise's social presence, ensuring platform behavior, audience needs, player conversation, and executional realities inform the broader marketing approach
- Develop and evolve channel strategies, editorial frameworks, playbooks, and repeatable content systems that support major launches and sustained live-service engagement, and identify emerging platform behaviors, cultural opportunities, competitive shifts, and audience trends that strengthen Overwatch's relevance and reach
- Shape social-first creative briefs, content concepts, campaign extensions, and platform-native storytelling, and guide internal creative teams and external agency partners through development, review, and delivery with clear strategic and creative feedback
- Oversee the global social editorial calendar and maintain a consistent, recognizable Overwatch social voice, ensuring content is purposeful, timely, aligned with franchise priorities, and reflective of the player experience and Overwatch's evolving product offering
- Manage the day-to-day relationship with external social agency partners by setting priorities, providing direction, reviewing work, and ensuring accountability against agreed deliverables
- Partner with regional teams to align global strategy and support local adaptation, and collaborate with Creator, Community, and Communications teams to connect influential voices, player conversation, and cultural signals to social planning
- Build alignment across stakeholders with different priorities by clearly communicating decisions, trade-offs, risks, and recommended actions, and manage review and escalation pathways for sensitive, reactive, or high-visibility social moments
- Guide real-time publishing, community engagement, and reactive content during launches and live events, monitoring player response to decide when the franchise should engage, adapt, escalate, or intentionally stay silent, while balancing planned campaign activity with live-service flexibility
- Translate data and player conversation into concise, decision-ready recommendations for franchise and marketing leadership, and establish test-and-learn approaches that improve content performance, audience retention, platform growth, and campaign effectiveness over time
- Manage multiple concurrent workstreams with clear visibility into priorities, dependencies, risks, and deadlines, bring structure to ambiguous requests, and proactively recommend practical solutions to gaps in strategy, process, resourcing, or execution
- Lead, develop, and mentor the social team, arranging training and growth experiences, identifying staffing needs, and fostering a collaborative, player-first working environment built on strong judgment, accountability, and high creative standards
Player ProfileMinimum Requirements:
- 10+ years of experience in social media, digital marketing, audience development, or related disciplines within gaming, entertainment, technology, consumer brands, or an agency environment
- Substantial experience in a functional leadership role, with a proven ability to set operational objectives, manage budgets and schedules, and develop team members
- Demonstrated experience developing and leading social strategies for a major brand, franchise, entertainment property, or live-service product
- Experience leading complex cross-functional campaigns from strategic development through execution and performance evaluation, including directing external agencies, creative partners, production teams, or other vendors
- Experience working across global and regional teams in a matrixed organization
- Deep understanding of major social platforms, audience behaviors, content formats, publishing practices, and measurement approaches, including social listening, sentiment analysis, channel analytics, and performance reporting
- Strong strategic and creative judgment, with a demonstrated ability to translate complex products, features, and business priorities into clear, compelling social strategies grounded in player needs and platform behavior
- Ability to develop persuasive strategic points of view, campaign recommendations, briefs, playbooks, and executive-ready presentations
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders, gain acceptance in sensitive situations without damaging relationships, and clearly articulate trade-offs
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to reprioritize as timelines shift and move comfortably between high-level strategy, detailed executional review, and fast real-time decisions
- Experience navigating sensitive player conversations, reputational risks, rapid-response situations, or real-time communications
- A proactive, highly autonomous, and structured leader who brings clarity to ambiguity and builds trust across creative, strategic, analytical, operational, and executive stakeholders
- A player-focused marketer and strong editor who understands that social success requires both cultural relevance and a meaningful connection to the product, and who can improve work without personally executing every deliverable
- General knowledge of the relationships between functional groups across the company, including marketing, development, esports, and regional teams
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting AAA or live-service games
- Familiarity with Overwatch, its players, creators, competitive ecosystem, and broader franchise history
- Experience leading social strategy for global product launches, collaborations, livestreams, esports, or live events
- Experience developing YouTube programming, short-form video strategy, or integrated content ecosystems
- Experience working with creators, influencers, or community-led programs
- Familiarity with tools such as Sprinklr, Monday.com, Opal, native platform analytics, social listening platforms, and project management systems
- Experience working with international audiences and regional marketing teams

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $107,350.00 - $198,630.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location.
