The Sr. Manager IT Business Applications serves as the strategic IT partner for Finance and Corporate Functions, responsible for aligning technology solutions with business objectives. This role leads stakeholder engagement, application portfolio strategy, technology roadmaps, and digital transformation initiatives across Finance, Accounting, HR, Payroll, Benefits, Compliance, Legal, and Royalties.
The position oversees a portfolio of enterprise applications, analytics, automation, and integration solutions, ensuring they are secure, compliant, scalable, and aligned with business priorities. The role also plays a key leadership role in Finance transformation initiatives, including SAP S/4HANA adoption and modernization of business processes, reporting, and technology platforms.
How You'll Spend Your Day
Business Partnership & Strategy
• Serve as the primary IT partner for Finance and Corporate Functions leadership.
• Build strong relationships with business stakeholders, vendors, and IT teams to understand priorities and technology needs.
• Facilitate prioritization of initiatives, manage stakeholder expectations, and communicate business impacts, risks, and recommendations to leadership.
• Drive alignment across business and technology teams to achieve strategic objectives.
Application Portfolio & Technology Leadership
• Provide strategic oversight of the Finance and Corporate Functions application portfolio, including SAP ECC, SAP S/4HANA, SAP FI/CO, Vistex, OpenText Content Manager, HR and Payroll integrations, Alteryx, reporting platforms, workflow automation, and AI-enabled solutions.
• Define and maintain technology roadmaps aligned with business priorities and enterprise architecture.
• Evaluate solution alternatives and recommend approaches that maximize business value while managing cost, risk, and operational complexity.
• Ensure appropriate governance, support models, controls, and lifecycle management practices across the application portfolio.
Portfolio & Demand Management
• Lead demand management, prioritization, and governance processes for business and technology initiatives.
• Partner with stakeholders to evaluate strategic opportunities, operational improvements, and transformation investments.
• Develop business cases, assess risks and benefits, and support investment planning and decision-making.
• Provide visibility into portfolio status, resource requirements, priorities, and expected business outcomes.
Operational Excellence & Service Governance
• Ensure reliable, secure, compliant, and efficient operation of business-critical applications.
• Oversee service performance, incident management, release planning, application enhancements, and operational risk management.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives that improve system stability, user experience, and business value delivery.
Data, Analytics, Automation & AI
• Lead strategy and governance for reporting, analytics, automation, and AI initiatives supporting Finance and Corporate Functions.
• Identify opportunities to improve decision-making, operational efficiency, and business insight through data, analytics, and automation.
• Oversee Alteryx, BI reporting, workflow automation, and AI-enabled solutions, including Microsoft Copilot and other approved technologies.
• Ensure data, reporting, automation, and AI solutions are scalable, secure, compliant, and aligned with business objectives.
• Support reporting modernization and SAP S/4HANA-related transformation initiatives.
Your Skills and Experience
Education & Experience
• Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field required.
• Master's degree or MBA preferred.
• 10+ years of experience supporting enterprise applications, technology delivery, or business transformation.
• 5+ years of experience leading complex projects, programs, portfolios, or cross-functional initiatives.
• Experience supporting Finance, Accounting, HR, Payroll, Benefits, Compliance, Legal, Royalties, or related Corporate Functions.
• Experience with SAP ERP environments; SAP S/4HANA transformation experience strongly preferred.
• Experience managing stakeholders, vendors, budgets, risks, and competing priorities in a matrixed environment.
• Experience within pharmaceutical, life sciences, healthcare, or other regulated industries preferred.
• Experience with reporting, analytics, automation, application modernization, and digital transformation initiatives preferred.
Skills, Knowledge & Abilities
• Strong stakeholder management and business relationship skills.
• Strategic planning, technology roadmap, and portfolio management expertise.
• Knowledge of Finance and Accounting processes and related enterprise technologies.
• Understanding of SAP ERP, SAP S/4HANA, enterprise integrations, IBP, SAC, reporting, and application lifecycle management.
• Strong project, program, financial, risk, vendor, and change management capabilities.
• Excellent communication, presentation, facilitation, and influencing skills.
• Ability to evaluate complex business challenges and translate them into practical technology solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, manage competing priorities, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
• Continuous improvement mindset with a track record of delivering business value through technology.

Salary Range
The annual starting salary for this position is between $133,520 - $166,900 annually. Factors which may affect starting salary within this range and level of role may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
