This job offers the opportunity to work from home as part of a hybrid work arrangement. This arrangement will allow you to work some days at a TCHC work location and the rest of the time from home. The amount of time required to work at a TCHC work location is flexible, while considering operational and service delivery requirements.

Make a difference

The Senior Manager of IT Architecture is responsible for leading a team of permanent, temporary, contract, and vendor-provided architecture resources. This role involves providing team management, architecture delivery, strategy, and business engagement. The Senior Manager will establish standards and technologies for digital solutions, translate client requirements into valuable solutions, and facilitate the architecture review board process.

What you'll do

People Management:
  • Manage staff performance, employee engagement, workload balancing, and coordination of efforts among staff specialties.
  • Conduct performance reviews, set goals, and provide feedback to team members.
  • Provide architecture and solution leadership, mentoring, and expertise to the team and other delivery teams.

Architecture Delivery:
  • Develop new IT standards and processes based on industry best practices.
  • Ensure enterprise application architecture and associated standards, policies, and guidelines are maintained.
  • Collaborate extensively with infrastructure and data architects, IT security and risk teams, and division owners to align enterprise solutions with business needs and strategy.

Strategy & Innovation:
  • Provide thought leadership on the development of IT roadmaps for specific business capabilities.
  • Develop the vision for a target state IT architecture.
  • Propose and implement industry best practices, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Research and recommend new solutions, applications, or versions best suited to support the business.

Services Enablement:
  • Understand key client needs and provide solutions with compelling value propositions that align with the organization's capabilities.
  • Identify and drive opportunities for business process improvements and redesign.
  • Prepare high-level estimates for projects.
  • Work as a technical mentor to deliver necessary training and guidance to the entire IT team.

Project Management:
  • Act as Project Manager for key architecture projects with diverse team members and stakeholders.
  • Prepare briefing notes and status updates/reports for Corporate Affairs, Audit Committee, ELT, and other stakeholders.
  • Collect information, evaluate client requirements, develop budgets and implementation plans, and optimize SLAs and costs.


What you'll need
  • University degree in computer science, engineering, or a relevant technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of broad and deep architecture experience.
  • Leadership experience in the development and implementation of architecture for business, application, integration, security, information, technology, implementation, and migration.
  • Extensive experience with multiple computing platforms, operating systems, environments, database technologies, programming languages, and communication protocols.
  • TOGAF, Archimate, or similar certification and training are assets; ITIL Foundation.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Interpersonal, consensus-building, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in developing enterprise architecture deliverables and specifications for RFPs.
  • Awareness of emerging IT trends and directions.
  • Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional, interdisciplinary teams to achieve tactical and strategic goals.
