The Opportunity Adobe seeks a Senior Manager of External Reporting and Equity Accounting to join our finance leadership team. This highly visible, critical role will report to the Director of External Reporting & Technical Accounting, ESG Controller and lead our SEC Reporting & Equity Accounting team. Key to success will be attention to detail coupled with high level understanding, strong project management and communication skills, and ability to partner and influence cross-functionally with our collaborators across the business, including in Equity Administration, Corporate Accounting, Tax, Treasury, FP&A, legal, Investor Relations and Employee Experience teams.
What you'll Do - Lead the external reporting team on drafting and filing high quality, complete, and accurate financial statement disclosures in SEC filings (Forms 10-K, 10-Q and 8-K) in compliance with associated regulatory requirements including XBRL tagging. Manage end-to-end financial statement filing process and timeline, including driving the review and approval from external auditors, senior management, disclosure committee, audit committee and executives.
- Detail review quarter-end internal management reports, and create presentation materials to provide senior management with meaningful insights into the Company's financial results.
- Coordinate with Investor Relations, Corporate Legal, FP&A and senior leaders to review our earnings documents and investor materials. Assist Investor Relations in responding to analyst inquiries on financial matters..
- Lead the company's equity accounting processes, including review of quarter-end stock-based compensation entries in accordance with ASC 718, as well as associated valuations, flux analyses and forecasts.
- Own the company's diluted share calculations, accounting for treasury stock, and accounting for equity awards assumed through business combination.
- Own Proxy Statement disclosures over financial and compensation-related areas in partnership with Corporate Legal and Equity Administration.
- Support non-financial SEC filings, including those related to debt and equity offerings, as well as certain international statutory financial statements and other regulatory filings.
- Manage the company's reporting policies for non-GAAP financial measures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate policy updates for FASB pronouncements and SEC rules, assess the impact to ensure compliance with reporting requirements and provide educational trainings to impacted collaborators.
- Own Sarbanes-Oxley controls and procedures associated with financial statement disclosures and equity accounting.
- Support month-end accounting close processes through review of journal entries and GL account reconciliations for various areas including equity, short-term investments, debt, and derivatives and hedging.
- Manage relationship with external auditors for integrated audit to ensure filing deadlines are met, and monitor other services provided by auditors to ensure independence requirements are met.
- Identify annual strategic priorities for the organization which align with Corporate priorities and have the biggest impact to Adobe.
- Develop, coach, and mentor the team to reinforce a strong team culture and to assist team members in reaching their individual development and professional goals.
- Drive financial reporting and equity accounting improvements and ad hoc projects.
What you need to succeed - BA/BS in Finance/Accounting with active CPA license
- 8+ years of relevant experience, including Big 4 public accounting firm experience and a global Fortune 500 company, preferably with high tech industry and controllership experience
- Deep understanding and application of U.S. GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- Meticulous attention to detail, balanced with the ability to see bigger picture and prioritize strategically
- Superb written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all functions and levels of the organization
- Strong analytical and problem resolution skills, including being able to research and simplify complex situations
- Technical accounting expertise in business combinations, treasury-related activities, share-based compensation and sophisticated structures
- Passion for continuous improvement of systems and processes
- Proven experience leading a team of 2+ employees
- Strong project management skills with the ability to balance several priorities in a fast-paced environment and drive cross-functional initiatives
- Experience working with Workiva, Equity Edge Online, Tableau and SAP are pluses
Expected Pay Range:Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The U.S. pay range for this position is $136,800 -- $239,800 annually. Pay within this range varies by work location and may also depend on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In California, the pay range for this position is $165,600 - $239,800
At Adobe, for sales roles starting salaries are expressed as total target compensation (TTC = base + commission), and short-term incentives are in the form of sales commission plans. Non-sales roles starting salaries are expressed as base salary and short-term incentives are in the form of the Annual Incentive Plan (AIP).
In addition, certain roles may be eligible for long-term incentives in the form of a new hire equity award.
