POSITION SUMMARYSony Corporation of America (SCA) is seeking a Senior Manager, External Relations with a proven track record to join our dynamic Global External Relations & Geopolitical Strategy team. SCA's External Relations Department works closely with the external relations teams of our global affiliates and parent company. In this role, you will participate in developing, implementing and executing strategies to represent the company's interests in government related affairs.
This position will be on a hybrid schedule with 3 days per week in our Washington, DC office. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Engage with key discussions across the Semiconductor and Electronics industries, including trade policy, delivering strategic insights that influence regulatory outcomes and advance the company's interests.
- Cultivate and leverage a robust external network of experts, politicians, industry groups, and other relevant third parties to enhance the company's presence and gather critical insights, aligning with Sony's strategic direction and business priorities.
- Actively engage in legislative and regulatory advocacy to promote favorable laws and regulations for Sony's businesses while mitigating unfavorable ones, collaborating with internal stakeholders to align on company priorities.
- Monitor and analyze U.S. political, legal, and regulatory developments to identify trends affecting Sony, transforming information into actionable insights for internal stakeholders and management.
- Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITIONYour qualifications and experience should include: - Minimum 7 years of experience in tech-related industry associations government affairs, public policy, trade affairs, or a related field, with a demonstrated understanding of legislative and regulatory processes.
- Bachelor's degree required; degree in Political Science, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
- Experience working on Capitol Hill and/or Department of Commerce, Bureau of Industry and Security strongly preferred.
- Strong interest in technology, particularly in semiconductors and related policy and regulatory developments.
- Global mindset with the ability to assess issues from a cross-border perspective and align U.S. developments with global business and policy priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other workplace productivity tools, including AI. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail with outstanding organizational skills.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, adapt to feedback, and manage multiple tasks effectively, sometimes under time pressure
- Experience with project management preferred.
- Japanese speaker is preferred.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States
The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $170,000 to $185,000. In addition to the annual base salary, this role has an annual bonus target of 17%. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
